It is very difficult to get full buy in on spending huge money on coaches at a school like SU. Add to that, the issue that mens and women's sports need to be equal in terms of spending, (which I agree with) but, certainly with football on the books it makes things very difficult and costly. Moral of this story though, and you hit the nail on the head, you must spend money to make it. No way, Rutgers, Syracuse, BC, heck even PSU cheaps out and gets itself back into prominence. OSU was spending $7million a year 5 years ago to get Urban Meyer home. They gave him cars, private plane access, vacation homes, etc. I read the contract. Now they could afford it, but they are also OSU. They get players regardless of who is coaching, but a name always makes things easier. Luke Fickell tanked for them, and they knew they needed a name, so they paid for it, and now they have been rewarded ten fold. Not sure Syracuse could ever get anyone of that caliber, and we certainly don't have $10 million to spend.
