Not sure what is going on with Keita...a line of 0-0-0-0 and 4 pfs isnt good. This is second game this has happened. Is he sick, is he hurt...what's up? Against less competition he was outstanding...both scoring and rebounding...now he looks flat footed and lost. He was better at end of last year even when hurt.

Any ideas out there?

he got called for some pretty ticky tack fouls.

I don't care if he doesn't score, but we need him to rebound more and get a few blocks. He had 1 reb in 21 mins these last 2 games. Maybe Rak should get a bit more time at the 5.

he's fine i though at least 2 of those fouls were BS considering how physical they were letting the game be.

Got called for bogus fouls. Dude plays hard and has a good attitude, so I think he'll be ok.

The good thing about Fab playing well, is that Keita has a chance to get it together. I think he will.

+1 (at least three were ticky tack fouls). And you could tell it was getting to him.

as bogus as some of the fouls were, he had 1 reb in 21 minutes against two small teams. that concerns me and doesn't have anything to do with the bad calls.

I don't think he's regressed, I think he just hasn't gotten any stronger. Loses the ball easily, gets muscled around. Same thing happened last year, but it was overlooked because Fab was much worse.

Do 18-19 year old's regress after playing basketball for an entire summer and fall? Is that even possible?

Keita was playing one handed last year. Not like he was dropping double doubles for us, so it's not like we had a high baseline to compare it to. Personally, I'm pleased with his development. To me, the 14 and 5 he put up against Albany was something he never would've done last season.

I'm trying to think of Big East teams he wouldn't start on, hard to come up with more than a few.

No he'll be fine. The game was called like the refs were in a fun house for the whole first half. They especially seemed to be on a mission to rid the court of one Baye Keita as soon as humanly possible. Really questionable calls on him. This one is a throw-away for gauging Baye.

Keita is the Jeremy McNeil of this team all he is 5 fouls and 10-20 minutes a game depending on the foul situation. He isn't going to score without being setup or cleaning up missed shots. I am not disappointed in his play as I don't see him winning or losing us any games. He is a perfect role player for this team.

I would not be surprised if Xmas dosent play Center...

One of Xmas/Keita has to play PF, and JB knows it. Once more physical teams come with tough PF's its going to happen.

Yes. Two of those early fouls were BS. It's rather difficult to play aggressive when you have 2 fouls early in the first half. Is his hand completely healed? As I recall reading two weeks ago, he had it wrapped again and said that his hand won't be 100% with regard to the pain for about 8-10 months. He can use it, but the soreness lingers for quite awhile, per the docs.

8-10 months from today? Or from when he had the injury?

I agree. I think his hand is bothering more than he says. He has had rebounds ripped away from him and he hasn't really gripped them very hard with two hands. He had one rebound ripped away today that had me stunned.

From the time they removed the wrap from his hand after surgery. He spoke about it after one of the first two games because he had it wrapped again.

He was getting pushed out of position pretty badly tonight. I thought this was his worst game in two seasons. He was caught out of position on their first lob and a few other times he went for blocks taking himself out of rebounding position that resulted in 2nd chance put backs.

The officiating was really poor (and it went both ways) tonight. Keita's going to struggle against teams who throw him around without getting whistled.

His hands looked pretty weak on one rebound that got snatched away from him, though. I doubt he's fully healthy. And those early BS fouls took him out of it; his body language turned sour in a hurry.

He's fine. He got called for a couple questionable fouls, a result of perhaps over-aggression. I'm fine with it.

People jump on players so early sometimes I don't get it.

he would benefit greatly from a redshirt year. Maybe next year if Fab, Christmas & Coleman are all onboard?
