One observation I've made is whatever ranking system is the flavor of the month on here tends to be the one which rates Syracuse the highest, because by that criteria alone it absolutely must be correct. KenPom was once the darling of this board, but how fickle fans forget when feeling their team is in any way slighted. RIP KenPom

Yeah, I mean each rating system has it's flaws. They can't be perfect. Selection sunday always takes into account whom you have beaten and such more than certain ratings.

I know, I know I'm just havin fun with the ratings right now. The most surprising thing I've noticed this week is we have beaten 5 teams with top 20 SOS, and Nova and Pitt who are both in top 5 BPI

If Nova has one loss and we beat them ...

It is why our own observations and common sense are still superior to these computer geeks, their algorithms and game leverage calcs. No doubt the computer numbers are correct; but don't always yield the best team.

Data sucks. It's play-doh. Whoever has the best hands makes it looks like something . But at the end of the day, its still not real.

Having watched Star Trek The Next Generation, I'd have to think Lieutenant Data would take offense to said statements. He was real in his own way and like some folks on here, a pretty interesting character. Your post does hit the allegory of his name quite well though.
