Kentucky expected to lose 7 players to the NBA

Who said it was, oh noble defender of Mr. Calipari?

It's funny how in every single one of these "Is JC a cheater?" arguments, it's consistently one side that catches feelings hard.

What about academic eligibility? How is it that in his time there they haven't had a single instance of a player possibly being ineligible? And APR? It's just not possible.

In one's freshman year, you have to have a 1.8 accum AFTER the 1st academic year and earn 24 credit hours to stay eligible for a second year or leave in "good standing". An academic year includes the summer and usually runs from around July 1 through June 30. Now that's the requirements for a player to be eligible for a second year in college - now if you want leave after your freshman year and don't care about the university's APR , are there really any academic requirements for a one and done player?....

Yes. In order to not adversely affect APR, a player may leave to play professionally but have to finish the spring semester in good standing.

Who said he's cheating? I asked a legitimate question above and you reply with snark.
Once again, as in the other thread(s)... if you don't think something above/beyond the norm has gone on at uk to get all those studs, keep them eligible and maintain a perfect apr - well, you would be wrong

No snark here!

Think Dakari Johnson regrets his decision ?

I think so. Is just an afterthought at Kentucky. What could he have been and done here ?

Probably not, since he's still going to get drafted. If he wanted to play a lot, he would've gone back to UK.

Towns has more all around game than Okafor and is not a slouch at the Charity stripe. Can see him playing down low for first part of his career then slowly turning into a stretch forward/center with athleticism. He still has plenty of work to do, but he should go #1.

Lyles has the all around game and a high bball IQ. I like the fact that he can use both hands to shoot around the rim. Should be a solid pro after a season or two.

Booker needs to work on his D. And then work on it some more. His offense is a different story though. Has one of the smoothest strokes I've seen in quite a while and does not lack confidence.

I'm not sure how Cauley-Stein will do vs the big boys down low in the NBA. WCS was good at guarding college guards up top, he sagged off of them and used his length to contest the shot if they hoisted a 3ball. By laying off of them, it made it hard to be able to penetrate or go around him. Most of his blocks came from being the help defender and not the primary. It won't be the same in the League. He won't be guarding point guards that can't dribble with both hands or ones that can't shoot. Don't think he'll be guarding many guards in the league. Never got to really see him play a ton of post defense vs any quality PF or C this past season.

Dakari will be spending a lot of time in the D-league. Still needs to prove that he's not just a big body and that he can play.

Harrison twins will make a roster eventually.

What happens when he doesn't grasp the zone and doesn't play? We had BMK, Coleman, and Rak the year he made his decision. How many minutes does he play this year with Rak being the way Rak was? Even in hindsight he made the right decision. HULK MAD!

Disagree. He came into a situation that had a lot of big talent, with a lot of big talent, and was recruited over with more big talent. Hard to see how that decision was the right one. He was 9th in min this season and 7th in min last season. I think his draft position would be much better if he played a big role at Villanova, or Wichita St, or St. Johns, or SU, or where ever else he was thinking of going.

There is that idea thrown out all the time that top flight talent is not afraid of competition. Just keep in mind that doesn't prevent you from vegging out on the Kentucky bench.

Probably not, since he's still going to get drafted. If he wanted to play a lot, he would've gone back to UK.

I gotta think this year is gonna hurt Cal brining in so much talent each year.

Damari Johnson came in as a star and then played 16 min a game this year. 16 min a game? There is no way that helped his draft status at all.

The Harrison twins came in as top 10 recruits and leave 2 years later as second round draft picks? How is that a good deal?

Cal's rap about guys being self less and sacrificing for the team sure sounds nice, but it's total BS for the players. These top recruits could go directly to the pros and make a million dollars right out of high school. They're already sacrificing a ton by coming to college. Now these kids are supposed to go to Kentucky and sacrifice even more? How does that make sense?

This setup makes no sense for the players, and eventually they are going to figure that out. I think this year should start to make it clear for a lot of them.

It won't hurt him because kids only see the success stories and assume they're next.

The chances are extremely slim, but wouldn't it be funny if Kentucky did not get anymore of the top players. That would make my day.
