SU Playing in Players Era NIL Tournament in Vegas in 2025

Should be a breeze to win out...

Could someone explain how this format works? 18 teams playing two games to determine a championship game and 3rd place game. Do they just take the teams that won 2 games and use scoring differential to determine the top 2 teams? Seems like a weird format

Plus I would think they prevent conference matchups, such as us playing Notre Dame.

I get he has the name recognition, but was still surprised that he’s representing ’Cuse over Donnie or JJ on the Players Era page.

Zero percent surprised by this.

Kiyan Anthony is Carmelo’s son.

Out of all the players on our team, the people who aren’t Syracuse fans, the most notable one is Carmelo’s son.

Of course they are going to use Kiyan for a national poster.

Also this wasn’t produced by Syracuse Univeristy.

Is Red the only coach missing?
6 (well 5 now) of 18 teams have the coach on there
7 players of the 18 teams
9 teams out of 18 represented in the graphic (I think that's a Kansas player at the top)

At least we're on there, unlike Notre Dame, Rutgers, Creighton, Baylor, San Diego St, Maryland, UNLV, Iowa State and Oregon.

I had thought that a 3rd game was guaranteed in this tournament. But, as I read this article that I came across while looking for a bracket, it seems that the third day games are picked by TV.

As i read this, there will only be 2 games on the third day, for 1st and 3rd place games. The teams will be selected based on their records in the first 2 games, with 2-0 teams getting in before 1-1 teams, regardless of who they played. But you imagine that TV will pick the teams who looked best for a double header, and it looks like that's it.

Let me know if you think I'm reading this wrong.

I think you're reading it wrong. Or at least missing one sentence. Namely, "Additional men's matchups will air Nov. 26 and Nov. 27 based on the first two days of competition." I'd imagine 3rd day games are guaranteed, but outside of the finals and 3rd place game, the rest of the matchups are just chosen by tv execs.

Thanks. The thing is, there's no actual bracket that I've been able to find.
So maybe there won't be third games for everybody - it costs money to open an arena.

yea but they want matchups for TV. every team is guaranteed three games per this article (and many others).

It makes sense they'll take all the 1-1 and 0-2 teams and match them up based on what will be best for tv at that point. I could see us matching up with a lot of teams but it'll also depend how we play.

But a Syracuse-St. John's game would be fun if both are 1-1 or even Syracuse-Gonzaga, Michigan or Maryland...

I don’t think there is a bracket. but there is going to be some network decisions going on around the semis because you can definitely have more than 4 teams at 2-0
