But it is hard to defend getting Smith so few touches over the last few games given his consistent ability to produce. Run out of 4 or 5 WR formations, force Wake to defend the whole field; Jerome can be successful that way. Anyway, I was really glad to see George made some adjustments at halftime that appeared to work. We only got 13 points and I think it happened in the span of 30 seconds, but we moved the ball a lot better, we made them pay for overplaying the game with the short passing game and when they tried to take that away, we hurt them with our running game. It is a great sign when your OC is willing to take what the defense is giving him, instead of trying to impose his will on the defense regardless. I like George's guttiness; he isn't afraid to go against conventions, which I appreciate. I think good OCs take time to develop. We invested a couple of years in Nathaniel before he became top notch. I would hate to see us spend a couple of years floundering on offense again but like I said, talent and inexperience are definitely playing a role in the offensive struggles. There is reason to think the young players will improve and I believe there is reason to think the talent level of our playmakers will also improve in years 2 and 3 of the GMac II era. I am not 100% sold on him but I think he is going to be fine as he grows into the position and the talent gets better and more experienced. [/QUOTE]
