Actually I got the message from the Binghamton High School main office in my school e-mail. I checked the promo code they gave me and it worked.

I am Dan Bartlett with the Ticket Sales Department here at Syracuse University. I began this position in August of 2013 and had little time before the football & basketball season were upon me. One of my main goals when I started was to show my appreciation for the teacher’s in the area. My sister teaches at Solvay Elementary and we came up with this idea to offer a discount to all teacher’s in the Syracuse area! With all the hard work that our teacher’s put in I wanted to give them the greatest discount I could and offer it for three games!

That is exactly what I did and am expanding upon that initiative this year! What I would like is for your office to review the link at the bottom of this email (those are the steps for your faculty and staff to follow in order to purchase) If you believe that this is something you’d like your faculty & staff to take advantage of please email blast the instructions out to them. I ask that you CC me or BCC me so I can keep track of the schools involved.

This is good to hear. Along the same lines I would hope they reach out to OCC. They have so many students living on campus from downstate with little to do up their on Onondaga Hill.

They have at least one military day each season and I think a couple last year. I think the discount is about 50 % Villanova, FSU and Duke are the games. FSU surprised me.

Half price for those with disposable income and of age to partake in the adult beverage stands. Gets people there and break even on concessions at worst. Clever move really and gets walking advertisements in classrooms in front of future fans.

FSU is no surprise to me. Pack the dome baby. It's our only shot against those guys.

I agree. Make this an annual thing. Maybe do a Teacher Appreciation Day once a season where a politician reads a speech shortly before game time praising these key public servants, ending with asking all teachers in the Dome to stand and be recognized. The teachers get a standing ovation, STO wipes a tear from his face and the kickoff to start the game follows.

One other thing: when the band marches to the fight song just before the game, I want the SUMB to form the word Cuse. But because Syracuse is the home of many language mavens, and we are renowned for this (William Safire, cto, etc.), the band needs to have an apostrophe before Cuse, so it says 'Cuse.

That apostrophe needs to be filled in late, to a special person being honored, much along the lines of the person who dots the 'i' in Ohio for the OSU band. People like Floyd Little, Jim Boeheim, Juli Boeheim, Missy Shafer, Vanessa Williams, DC, Pearl, GMac, Dave Bing, Rasta Dude, etc. would be good candidates. And on Teacher Appreciation Day, STO.

We always are working with military - One of my associates is doing a discount night for all fire, police, and emergency personnel
