Could be an interesting OC choice. He is a Cutcliffe disciple, and has extensive experience as an OC and QB coach. Coached guys like Eli Manning, and helped make Duke nationally relevant with an explosive offensive. Note how Duke's offense did a nose dive this season after Roper left despite returning basically everyone on that side of the ball. Sure it could be a small step back in his career, but I can't see too many big time P5 programs lining up to take the ex Florida OC.

As far as his offense he is pretty diverse. http://www.alligatorarmy.com/2014/1...ve-philosophy-florida-gators-duke-blue-devils

Here is his work history

1996-98 - Tennessee GA
99-04 - Ole Miss qb coach/OC
2005 - Kentucky - qb coach
2006-07 - Tennssee RB coach
2008-13 - Duke qb coach/OC
2014 - Florida OC

My question is if he had such success at Duke with explosive offense, why didn't he have the same success at Florida, with arguably better talent? Is Driscoll just that bad?

thats wishful thinking, we are stuck with the status quo

The article I copied was pretty interesting. Said how he tailored his offense at Duke to the strengths of the team. His success at Duke didn't really come overnight, so I would give a guy like him the benefit of the doubt that he needed a year two to get your guys in. Florida did have some pretty decent offensive performances as of late with a true Freshman qb.

We would be exactly like Duke where he was able to produce a top 30 offense without elite talent. I don't think last years Duke team had any 4 or 5 star recruits.

I realize there is basically no chance this is happening, but my question is why wouldn't we even try to explore someone like this? Here you have someone who you probably could have a chance at getting, that has shown he can produce high level offenses in the ACC, and you don't need 4 and 5 star talent.

muschamp will do that to you.

Playing with someone else's recruits against better defenses. I'd give the benefit of the doubt after only 1 year at a school under a lame duck HC. Taking the Florida gig was a questionable career choice though given Muschamp's status heading into this season.

Wishful thinking...
Anyone think there is a chance we have a new OC in place for next year? Especially if these next 2 weeks are a disaster offensively?

Where do you think a guy like Roper ends up?

I realize there is slim chances of us even looking at him, but my point is this is someone we should consider if we are serious about getting things back together.

Peter Berg doesn't like your choice.

The dude seems destined to never, ever have a place North of the Mason-Dixon line as home.

Any chance he just goes back to Duke or is a bridge burned by him making what some may see as a lateral move?

Folks on our board don't think he'll go back to Duke because they have no problems with his replacement. He'd probably be welcomed to come back if there was an opening in the future under Cutcliffe because his move wasn't viewed as ambition as much as helping a last gasp attempt by Muschamp to save his job and going to UF from Dook is in actuality a step up.
