Kyle McCord -- all-time SU passing list

How did Terrel Hunt only manage to throw 11 TD's
He only played really his freshman year all season when he had 10 td’s. His last 2 seasons he was decimated with injuries having his last 2 seasons cut short. Heck the poor guy got hurt on like the first play in the first game his 3rd year, his last. Sad.

Rel Hunt was a “dual threat” who mostly was only a runner.

But yes - if he’d not gotten badly hurt his last 2 seasons, he likely would’ve been much higher on the list -

… but at Dungey’s expense.

So Mccord broke the attempts/completions record in a season in 10 games
good game next week sets the yds record and TD record

not sure we want him to set the INT record though

This graphic hasn't yet been updated to reflect last night, but if you simply add the numbers, McCord finishes with 34 TD passes which places him 7th all-time. His 4779 passing yards are 8th all-time.

It's crazy when you look at the all-time great QB's for Syracuse, and none of them besides Dungey
( ~240 / game) averaged over 200 yards / game passing.
Nassib as a pure pocket passer was < 200 / game.

Kyle's *average* is 360.

How many games will it take our next QB to pass Kyle on the all time list? 18 games?

We came very close this year to having three different players finish with over 1000 receiving yards. Meeks finished with 1021, Pena 941, OG 934.

Random tidbit: the leading receiver on our 2005 team (Rice Moss) had fewer receiving yards than five different players on this 2024 team.

I think Shrader is underrated.
  1. 6th all-time in career passing yards 5,771
  2. 6th single season passing yards 2,640
  3. 6th career passing touchdowns 39
  4. 4th career rushing touchdowns 31
  5. 4th(tied) single season 14
  6. 4th(tied) single season 4
  7. 5th career total offensive yards 7,474
  8. 4th single season total offensive yards 3,093
  9. 4th career touchdowns responsible for 70
  10. 6th single season touchdowns responsible for 26
Amazing considering he was rarely heathy. Garrett was a real warrior and there is no telling what he could have done. In his 3 years at SU he started in 35 games and had an 18-17 w-l record. It is quite possible that if he had remained healthy in 2022 we might have beaten Clemson and Minnesota and been 9-3 instead of 7-5 an maybe even better.
As I keep saying, Shrader is Orange football royalty.

Perry couldn’t really run at all, whereas Hunt was a very effective running QB. Both were medicore passers.
Perry lacked “touch”. My memory of him is him spiking the call at High velo into the receivers shins.

Garrett had a fantastic career for us. His naked bootlegs against Purdue last year were truly poetry in motion.

Very surprised to see that Zack Mahoney played in 25 games and is in the top15 for TDs.
Dungey got injured and didn't finish the season each of his first three seasons and Mahoney was the guy who came in. A lot of November games when we were already out of bowl contention.

His two most high profile games were the LSU game in the Dome when he played valiantly and then the 2016 game at Pitt which was like a basketball score, and he threw for 440 yards and 5 TDs.

He was also really bad at throwing the ball

Great runner though

Nassib had a bunch of games where was brought in as a runner that bring down his average

Arguably our all-time QB2, as in, at no point was he ever in the plans for QB1, but competently played when his number was called.
Mahoney is a great example for the people who can't understand that being consistently alright is rare

we remember mahoney being ok because he had that one game and a couple others that were ok

but there were so many games that were so bad

people have it in their head that nunes was ok in 2002

he was terrible but he had two great games

I mean he was a QB2.
