Kyle McCord: Drafted by Eagles / Rd 6 Pk 181

Anyone know what channel this game is on?
Unless you’re in the Philly or Cincy area, I think you need NFL+ to watch.

McKee getting the first drive for the Eagles and they are in the red zone.

Hoping it’s a short night for him and we get to see McCord.

If you get NFL network on your cable / streaming they do show all the preseason games at some point over the weekend. I've DVR'd many 4:00 AM showings of Raiders preseason.

Kyle finally got with ~11 minutes left in the 4th.

1st Play - False Start
2nd Play - Holding on the offence
3rd play - 14 yard run (on 1st and 25)
4th play - dropped pass
5th play - Pick Six where the receiver didn’t look for the pass and the LB behind him caught it

Tough to look good when you’re getting reps with the 4th and 5th stringers.

Not worried. What he shows in practice is 10x more important than these scrimmages to determine the 53rd man on the roster.

9) The 'Shaky Debut' Award : Kyle McCord

McCord was 1 for 5 for 8 yards and a pick-six. Dorian Thompson-Robinson has outplayed McCord in camp, and he certainly also did in the preseason game. The Eagles could have an interesting decision to make there.

Feel bad for McCord. Announcers were saying also not getting many reps in practice (understandably so when you're 3rd/4th on the depth chart). Right now I think it's an uphill battle for him to make the 53 man roster. Have to imagine he sticks around on the practice squad or gets picked up as a number 3 on another team.

Got to keep working and competing. A lot of politics in NFL roster management unless you are a clear cut starter and even still that can get political. As long as he continues to work and compete, it will all work out somewhere. He can throw a special ball.

If he does get cut The Saints with Kellen Moore as the coach would be a great fit as I said before the draft.

He will almost certainly begin his NFL career on a practice squad.

It was a bad draft team for him. Not sure what they were thinking.

He didn’t look good, watched it on NFL+.

No so good.

Notwithstanding the commentary above, consensus opinion from Philly beat writers I follow is that McCord will make the Eagles 53-man roster. Btw Tanner McKee could start for a few teams in the NFL and is a high quality backup.

yeah, I think the 2 primary concerns of DTR and the preseason are both overstated, the preseason stats, while looking bad are not really his fault, the pick six is not a pick six in any actual NFL action with NFL quality players and DTR might actually be better than previously though just because he got off the hellhole that is the Cleveland browns.

Tanner filled in for Hurts at the end of the regular season and looked legit to me.

As a life long Browns (Cleveland) fan, I do find the typical shade thrown their way deserving, regardless of how immensely unoriginal it is. That said, the Browns got rid of him for Kenny Pickett, so that should speak clearly for itself.

DTR got plenty of chances in Cleveland, the main problem is that he's kinda like fools gold. He typically shined in the pre-season, but once the true lights of broadway came on, he couldn't handle the pressure. He repeatedly struggled with the mental/decision making process, which negatively impacted the quality of his throws, etc. IMO, he'll be a career backup and journeyman until he's out of the NFL in a few years or so.
