Kyle McCord: Drafted by Eagles / Rd 6 Pk 181

The receiver flat out dropped that 1st down pass. McCord got it out on time, right when it needed to be. Drive killer.

Kyle is looking like a rookie right now. Btw, Gabriel seems like a really likable guy.

Yeah, I think we've seen that the Birds have two really good QB's. It's a battle as to who holds the clipboard for the time being.

As long as McCord stays within himself, he'll win that battle. Like he's doing right now with these quick passes.

"Pathetic" comes to mind. Even a routine screen pass - right to the guy's hands - pffft. Anther guy - right through his hands. Impossible to evaluate a QB with such poor protection and receivers.
If he made the right read and threw it in the right place, he’ll get credit

No. None of the Birds' projected starting OL played today.

They alternated the 3rd and 4th QB's basically series by series in the second half.

They showed nothing. On purpose.
That explains why he had no time then.

One of the color guys, Ross Tucker, I think, mentioned that McCord is far better when he doesn't exit the pocket prematurely. McCord did that twice, and he's not super-athletic. Tucker noted that he's better off just stepping up and moving around the pocket.

It's not as if Cleveland was playing its starters, either.

Hey, it's not all bad. Pretty sure that McCord moved into the #3 spot on the depth chart. There are far worse ways to make a living.

DTR and Kyle split QB reps. Neither played well, but their protection was bad. Cleveland won the battle up front on both sides of the ball. The Eagles had 25 dropbacks and CLE had 6 QB hits, plus a sack and additional pressure. McCord did play better this week than the opener. He settled down and did have some good moments.

Tanner McKee didn’t play. Sirianni said he got enough work in the practices that the Eagles staff wanted to focus on DTR and McCord. The QBs played with both the second and third teams. It looked like they would play two series each and then sit for a couple. The idea was to see them with different blockers and receivers so the coaches could make a more balanced evaluation. I’m not sure that worked as hoped since pretty much everyone struggled.

The Eagles finished the game with 88 yards on 44 plays. That should tell you all you need to know.

I wish the poor blocking could be blamed on one guy. It sure looked like everyone struggled to some extent.
