Lamar Dawson fighting life-threatening disease; enrollment likely delayed

I look forward to watching Lamar run out onto Ernie Davis Field in the Orange and Blue!

Here's the first thing I thought of. Card could say something like

"It may be basketball season, but we are truly rooting for you"

Fabulous!

You need to flip the dimensions. Portrait rather than landscape.

I appreciate Mink's story on Lamar. It's a terrible thing and generally it's good for us as fans to see these kids as more than just football players. It becomes harder to on them when you "know" them more personally. Mink deserves wholehearted praise for his effort. But despite the feature-worthy topic of the article, I still cringe when I see flashes of Cohen here and there in his writing. We don't need a fashion report in the middle of a statement about the seriousness of his disease. It immediately takes you out of the story and I know that's not his intent but that's the effect anyway. I know they pound home the idea of putting together a picture-story to these journalism students but you have to be a little discerning about how/when you do that. He's young and he's getting better. He shouldn't come to the wrong conclusions about Cohen's promotion, though. It wasn't so much about his current writing than about his future potential. What Cohen is today is not a model to follow.

Blood on the pillow and the doctor says it's strep?!? I'm no doctor but that is nuts

OTL just mentioned both Alabama & Texas A&M followed through with scholarships to players who either through injury or illness will never play college football. Let's hope that not the case with Lamar but Syracuse is doing the right thing.
