...when I allowed myself to honestly believe that we CAN turn this around and get back to being a top 25 team.

Moe is an exceptional talent. I believe that this staff can recruit at a high level. And I'm starting to believe that we're not that far off from winning consistently.

The coaches certainly seem to be offering the kids the right message whether it be selling a revolution in the program or the kind of organization they want to be part of. I spent today being excited by RW & Moe Dean and the excitement a lot of these guys show in wanting to play together. I gotta believe that good times are ahead.

Not only is it great that we landed Washington and Neal but it's even better BOTH are enrolling early. The fact that Culpepper is enrolling early also is great he may be hurt but he can study that playbook even harder now. Now we just need Aapri Washington to commit along with the other 2 commits we have for 2017 already we have a lot of momentum and a lot of talent in the fold to show recruits. Things are on the rise in Syracuse and in a big way.

i remain cautious as a self preservation measure. have been disappointed to many times. i agree i am excited about what appears to be an upswing in recruting which maybe fruitful in a year or two, but will not allow myself any koolaid. naturally i hope for the best, and hope that hcss has matured into the job. i would give him an extension now, to solidify his position and deal with what happens later.

We need 6 wins or even dare say 7 wins this year and I think we can take off.
With what we already have in the fold for 2017 and the possibility of adding Aapri, 2017 could be a gigantic class that pushes us into the top 25 recruiting classes. The momentum for that group is going to be huge if we can show we can win some damn games this year. Get to 6 wins and be competitive in a bowl game and we could be very dangerous next year on the field and on the trail.

I definitely think, if I may steal a phrase from Go, that recruiting has turned a little bit of a corner. It felt for a long time that the majority of our top notch recruits were all on the defensive side of the ball. If we had a high upside/highly rated/highly coveted player on the offensive side we'd really only have one guy with that kind of profile.

Now, I think we're starting to see the recruiting start to stack up a little better on the offensive side of the ball. Last year, Ish got everybody excited, but Custis and Enoicy project well too. This season, Strickland has a good chance to see the ball a but I think, and Dunkelberger it sounds like we'll be an impact guy. RW, Culpepper, Washington is nice triumvirate.

These are much needed developments.

If you don't mind me asking, if he's such an exceptional talent, why is he only rated 3 stars? Nice get for sure but let's not judge through orange colored glasses.

He was previously rated as an ESPN300 player but for whatever reason was bumped out. Mainly because he plays in a small league and he only weighs 160.

Have you ever actually watched him? And if you have, how on earth can you watch him and NOT think he's an outstanding talent?

Competition. Someone said he'd be higher if he played against better comp. Similar to Erv last year.

I don't know how long you've followed the recruiting services, but, there's a 100 variables on rankings. There are literally probably a 1000 threads on this site alone that walks down all of the reasonings (and non-reasonings) for rankings.

Stars, although I think we've all concluded have some merit from a macro standpoint, are hardly the most reliable indication to go off of for any one individual player.

And, I would also feel this way if we were recruiting at a Top-25 level according to the services. I find the rankings to be very subjective in nature.

Have you watched his video?
I've seen his videos... I came away thinking he's a good talent but that the competition was like watching t
CNY high school athletes. DC2 was rated very high but weak competition means it's a lot harder to evaluate players that stand out.

Well sure. That can't be helped. But his speed is legit, agility, change of direction, etc. that all translates.

This guy is beyond legit.

Yep. He's already running a 4.39 as a high school junior. That's a heck of a lot different than, for instance, Dajuan Coleman, who was just bigger than everyone else. Having legitimate SEC level speed so young sets Moe apart, particularly when you consider he's also laterally quick and agile in addition to having straight ahead speed.

Orange colored glasses my a$$. We haven't had a breakaway threat with this kind of acceleration in a LONG time. That's what I'm judging it on.

"Only" three stars? If you watched his film and came away thinking he wasn't that fast, I'd say you're the one who needs to change your glasses.

Mike Hart was considered too small and from too small of a school. Look what he did. End of discussion.

Hey jek, not disputing the number, just wondering when and where the 4.39 came from. This is elite, even for the NFL.

Somewhere I read a quote from Rex, after his visit said Syracuse has a couple of freshmen beasts at WR, meaning Custis, and Enoicy. We need these two, somehow to find a place in Lester's offense, in order to be dangerous every game.

I talk to myself a lot and am pretty sure I said "damn...he's fast" as I watched him...kept waiting for the end of his highlights...a half hour later I'm still watching them

Timed at the Total Exposure Football Camp: http://www.totalexposurefbcamp.com/TE-FB-Moe-Neal.html

Thanks for the link. He was timed by SPARQ Laser Timers at that camp. Very impressive speed to add to the play making ability seen on the tape. Adding athletes/play makers like Moe to Erv, Ish, RW, Strickland (great tape) and Perkins (who I think will also see the field this year) is the direction we must head just to keep pace with the middle of the ACC.

Now, we need to hope that one of Dungey/Womack/Culpepper is the real deal. Then, and only then IMO, the program has turned "the corner."

His Junior year stats, he had 2,018 yards rushing, 550 receiving. 29 TD's rushing, and 9 TD's receiving. I don't care about any stars, those are some VERY impressive stats.
