I agree that Freeman would not have started over Derrick Coleman.Let's just say Freeman will get better during the year, but would have been a bench piece on the 1987-1991 teams.

How many double doubles did Benny have? You're not being serious right?
He went for 18 and 11, 3 for 5 from 3 in the ACC Tourney must win game vs Wake Forest (granted we lost) his soph year. How many double doubles did Benny have?
That was like 60 games into his career here. I'm not sure how good Freeman will be, but I expected a slow start from him based on what Red has been saying about him adjusting to the college game. Watching Benny was like watching Charlie Brown try to kick a football. I just don't think Freeman is in that category. He went for 18 and 11, 3 for 5 from 3 in the ACC Tourney must win game vs Wake Forest (granted we lost) his soph year.
Freeman looks much more skilled to me. But frankly doing what he did vs Lemoyne and Colgate was not impressive. Certainly not as impressive as what Benny did vs Wake
Well yeah, you said "His first game was better than basically any game Benny played." If you want to say it was better than basically any game Freshman Benny had, Benny had a great gane in the dome vs Duke Frosh Year. That was like 60 games into his career here. This team doesn't have anyone that can hang with Judah. If you have a significant advantage at the PG position chances, are you win the game.Who wins?
Judah, JJ, Bell, Taylor, Brown
Bench: Cuffe, Benny, Quadir, Naheem
Carlos, JJ, Bell, Freeman, Lampkin
Bench: Davis, Choppa, Cuffe, Lucas Taylor, Naheem, Petar, Westry
Does Judah make the difference as that go to alpha bucket getter in crunch time?
This is the measuring stick? How many double doubles did Benny have?
I was replying to the idea that he is another Benny. Maybe I misread. This is the measuring stick?
I'm not going to praise Benny because he stunk, but unless Freeman is hurt I don't really understand how people think he's great when the coach won't even play him outside of a couple minutes of the second half in a close game.
Why didn't get play? Tired? Red wanted to keep it close? Didn't want him to outshine everyone else? I'm guessing he didn't play because he didn't really do much when he did.
Davis made that amazing pass and was our best player first half and then stunk. Donnie stunk first half and wasn't going to factor in for the second per the coach. This is the measuring stick?

Freeman will get better this year, but if he stays and plays with the incoming players, he should be great.Davis made that amazing pass and was our best player first half and then stunk. Donnie stunk first half and wasn't going to factor in for the second per the coach.
Davis was not good 2H even before the missed front ends.
I like the way Freeman fits with Bell, Davis, and Lamp he just needs to play smarter. Good stroke and he can hit a tough contested shot if needed to but he was launching them early in the clock vs Colgate we can't have that.
