Latest bowl update from Jerry Palm...

Tulane will be playing Louisiana-Lafayette in the NOLA Bowl. The other 6-6 teams stay home. Need to be USF and UCF fan this week.

We should get selected ahead of Pitt...but Pitt has had an extra week to work the phones. If NIU gets displaced (UCF jumping them which looks like a good possibility)...the MAC will lose another team.

Does anyone know how the ACC splits bowl revenues? This might influence how strongly the ACC lobbies on our behalf (i.e., if the league gets a cut of the at-large bowl revenues).

From a David Teel article in May 2013...

"The ACC has historically pooled bowl revenue after expenses and shared it evenly. But with the football playoff set to generate another windfall, I asked Swofford if the ACC is considering rewarding its football champion, or playoff teams, with a bonus.
“There’s some discussion about that,” he said. “There’s some preliminary ideas that have been thrown out just for consideration.”

5% no bowl. So they're not technically wrong

Not getting to a bowl despite being eligible would be a huge blow to this team but based on our track record wouldn't surprise me one bit. When Syracuse has to put its destiny in someone elses hands we usually end up getting screwed.

Missing out on a bowl game would be a major disappointment and a major setback for the program.

it has happened before to SU. its not like Pitt travels or anyone else in the ACC after clemson/FSU

From 2010

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- The St. Petersburg Bowl has extended its agreement with the Big East Conference and Conference USA through the 2013 season.

The Sun Belt Conference also signed an agreement to provide a backup team, if there's an opening.

So it looks like no Beef O'Brady for Cuse...this might end badly if Rutgers and SMU both win.
