Penn's win over Albany today bodes well for Cuse's RPI. The Georgetown game always felt slightly out of reach for the Quakers but they kept it tough throughout. They should be improved this season. Puts the tight Cornell win over the Danes into perspective - although as noted the jump from game 1 to 2 is usually noticeable. I'm sure Cornell will get it together a bit more but I'm not sure if their ceiling is top 5 this season.

Feels like bumping Princeton out of the top 10 is an overreaction. Yes that defense needs work but my money is that still being a top 5 team when all is said and done. The problem they have is the gauntlet to open the season. This weekend should be fascinating and then the UNC/Cuse double-header.

Notre Dame almost put up 30 on Bellarmine. Crazy to me that the same people who point to wins like that (or Duke and UNC's wins over struggling programs this past weekend) as evidence that those teams are great are the same people who complain that #22 only scores against lower competition.

Looking forward to Joey proving people wrong all season.

I will be surprised if Cornell has a high ceiling this year, coming off a great year and losing the best player.

The unforced errors vs Albany were killer in keeping that game close.

But only having handful of practices before a road game in bad weather, lots of room to get better. the IPF cant come fast enough for them.

Navy up 9-7 over VMI at the half. Navy goalie with only 2 saves while the VMI goalie has 10 saves and a goal. VMI struggling with clearing, only 9-16 so far.

Navy shot out of a cannon after halftime and is now up 17-10 to end the third. Navy goalie still struggling to save but VMI continues to turn it over.

Navy wins 19-12.

11-3 Harvard over Gate at the half. Saturday will be a total war. If McCool can’t stop a beach ball again it’s gonna be a long day

Harvard being very aggressive on groundballs and is pushing transition to beat the Colgate 10 man, has lead to some easy scoring opportunities.

Hard to get a good read on Harvard right now as Colgate looks awful.

Very hard to get a read. Gate has been very sloppy with the ball and their zone/man hybrid D is the opposite of what you want to run against Harvard.

Harvard still struggling big time at the X. Gate isn't great at the X but their man guy is 10 for 18 and that includes them winning the last 2-3 draws to make it a little closer.

Havard definitely has some real nice O pieces in Spiedel, Malone, Ip etc. That attack unit will pose some problems. Stevens the goalie is also solid. Hard to get a read on their defense overall but holding a decent Providence team to 4 goals is a bit eye opening.

McCool will need to be better but Gate is also playing right into Havard's hands by not challenging behind the net (at all) and playing that weird zone/man hybrid. Their 10 man has also lead to at least 4 goals in transition to Harvard.

Syracuse definitely struggled against that offense at times in both matchup's despite a huge Faceoff discrepancy. Harvard rides very hard and that gave SU a lot of trouble. Hope SU is ready for it this time.

Faceoffs should again be very much in SU's favor. Need to actually take advantage.

Expect another very physical game. The 8 days off for SU should be a major help.

harvard has turn the ball over 19 times each of their first 2 games. So clearly they can be forced into mistakes. So we not only have to make them make mistakes but also make them pay for it. I hope they are ready for a good 10man ride again. Kinda liked going bs BU n joes as both are good riding teams n harvard is also. So hopefully helps us manage beating the 10man ride or not panicking when see it.

malone is a good player with good size n speed. If remember he bullied us at times for goals. Also harvard had 15 out of 17 goals tonight assisted n 5 out of 10 vs providence. So not sure if playing man to man n making them beat us is way to go or not. But clearly if slide happy or poorly they will pass it n beat ya that way. Think we do have to come out aggressive again n on their hands n in their face on passing and catching. Also can’t let anyone sit on crease without punishing if a blocked shot or rebound of save comes their way.

Offense is gonna need to keep taking good shots. Good angles n full cage looking shots. Also will have to win the groundball battle not giving them any extra chances. Even if mullen does what he does don’t mean a win (clearly as both games were close). Can not look pass this team or take them for granted. Have to play consistently well every qtr in every game. Win each qtr n will most likely win the game. Come on orange come out on fire n don’t ever let up till the final whistle. Let’s go 🍊

Along with Figueras, Malone may be the most underrated guy in the country. I was suprised he did not make any of the preseason AA lists even as an honorable mention. He is a serious problem off the dodge. Fast but also a big and strong guy who moves really well for his size. He burned us in both Harvard games last year. He will likely be the toughest 1v1 matchup we have seen so far this year. Seems like a job for Dwan, but we will see what they do.

Matchups will be interesting for sure. Nice not to have to worry about Sam King this year who was actually one of the attackmen I've seen be able to get a few steps on Figeuras. He didn't score a ton last year but definitely was the party starter and Malone was one of the recipients of alot of those passes once they got the defense sliding.

Wow! Trailing 10-5 going into the 4th quarter, Sacred Heart scored 8 straight goals to take a 13-10 lead with under 5 minutes to play. Fairfield then scored 2 goals in the next two+ minutes to make it SH 13-12. SH goalie makes a save with 7 seconds left.

Final: SH 13-12

Wow

That is going to leave a mark, wow.

Interesting game so far between unc and hop. 3-1 12 mins left 2nd qtr, UNC on top. A crap ton of turnovers from both teams. UNC has won every faceoff but 1 and should be up another 2-3 goals but can't stop turning it over. That all UNC frosh mid line has a LONG way to go......

UNC up 6-4 at halftime over Hopkins

Kind of crazy with the possession disadvantage, but Hopkins has been playing tough in the middle of the field. Not capitalizing on nearly enough of their chances though - limited touches will do that to you.

Jays need to sharpen up their shooting.

UNC doing a good job on defense getting on the Jays hands.
