Class of 2025 LB Riley Pettijohn (TX) Verbal to Ohio St

That is a stacked top 6. We aren't there... yet.
I am a bit surprised he didn't take a trip to SU to check it out, since his dad went there and was a star on the field.

Two big time legacy recruits ended up at OSU. I hope Fran can reverse this trend.
I’m less concerned about legacies now with Fran on board. His staff can recruit. As long as we’re getting some top 250 kids every class that’s all that really matters to me, legacies or otherwise. If guys like Marv II or Riley here want to play at OSU or Bama you’re not stopping that. That means they don’t have the sense of program connection/pride like a recruit like Caden Brown had. And that comes from the alum parent quite frankly. I mean Riley didn’t even visit Syracuse. The second the new staff was in place here Al was publically lobbying for Fran’s staff to recruit Caden on Twitter lol. That’s the difference.

We never had a shot here. Duke loves SU but this kid is a borderline 5star who plays high level Texas high school ball. After Fran is here a couple of years his chances will improve with these legacies as he can build more of a relationship w them at a younger age. Too late of start with this one though. Riley does have a younger brother who’s going to be good as well. Im very surprised Riley didn’t end up at Texas as they had been a huge favorite up until the last couple of weeks. As mentioned above the portal may be an option if we choose to keep in touch and he doesn’t make the impact that he wants.

Fran wants The Alums around where previous staffs didn't.
It's going to take a while to mend all the fences. Some of the Alums won't be receptive, and that's their problem.

This ^^^ Sometimes kids want to create their own name. The legacy concept is more fans just remembering the dad and thinking it's cool the son would follow. As long as we keep increasing the talent, I could care less where it comes from or if legacies are a part of it. Just win. Hard stop.
