I haven’t posted to this board in a decade...but after this game I have a lot of questions about this program, the leadership, and it’s direction

when you have 5 years, can’t get a system stable, have a kid in the system for 3 years who degrades every year, promised a high scoring offense that now can’t score, can’t build an offensive line, play calling that borders between the predictable and the bizarre, and the same systemic problems year after year...

I have always been told that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different response...is this the plan of the coaching staff?

being a great speaker doesn’t make you a great leader...putting people in places to succeed, inspiring others, and developing those around you to their best potential does. It doesn’t appear this leadership has done this with the offense.

I have read this board for over 15 years now...and many of you have great insights, I hope there is some positive on the direction you can share, because there are a lot of questions about the people that lead this program ( though loved the effort the defense put in today)

We seem like a team of individuals.

That's not fair. Our defense is a cohesive unit. Our offense is . . . . bad. However, I'm willing to give some leeway to a brand new coordinator that had to introduce his--admittedly mild--changes over Zoom. That's not a recipe for a successful year.

Edit: He's also missing his top two RBs and starting a FB at guard. I don't envy his position.

The best leadership in the world won't heal an OL decimated by injuries and bad NCAA decisions.

He runs the same offense we had before he arrived. The D seemed handle a completely different scheme in the allotted time.

Yeah, but I'm don't think it's fair to expect Gilbert to do the same fantastic job as White. I don't think that makes him a bad coach. I think it means he's not as good as White and couldn't win with his objectively bad hand.

could start by not running up the middle on the first play of every drive

Exactly.

I'll also add that the OL was decent on passing plays. Running plays, probably a little below average but tough to tell when you don't have much variation with play calling.

Agree. I've never been on a football field in my life and I had a pretty good idea what was coming today.

i looked it up. 10 of our 14 drives started with a run.our best first down run was 6 on the second to last drive. almost every other one was 2/3 yards. 2 of the 4 passes were for first downs, that will not work in the long run if every drive starts at 2 and 8

for most of the last 15 years we have been without a decent o line

dungey was still a leader and inspired the team to success...made this around him better.

whether it’s bad coaching, or lack of ability ... the current offense has no leadership, no creativity, no passion or drive and constantly has looked (for the last two years) it just gives up.

it can’t all be on the players...at some point it has to be on those that coach them, and leadership and lack there of starts at the top

Haven’t posted in a decade and decided today’s the day! Hmm... “In Internet slang, a troll is a person who starts flame wars or intentionally upsets people on the Internet by posting inflammatory and digressive, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community (such as a newsgroup, forum, chat room, or blog) with the intent of provoking readers into displaying emotional responses and normalizing tangential discussion, either for the troll's amusement or a specific gain.”

i mean his account goes back to 2011 so its not that unlikely

I saw a defense play great against a very good offense for 3 quarters.

I saw every big time throw by our QB dropped. And no awful throws into traffic. Some good scrambles.

The run game was atrocious and it wasn't entirely on the OL every time you thought we'd get positive yardage Jordan and Pierre somehow only gained 2-3 yards.

Taj Harris 20 targets is bad bad bad news. Hes so skinny he still gets pushed out of bounds on every go route.

The other guys who haven't been given a shot need to. I want to see Lutz for example even if he sucks both at RB and WR.

this is a very fair point, and a reasonable accusation.

to be honest I have been happy to simply ready and never post...today felt so different though. Seeing the defense put the offense in so many opportunities and seeing the same plays over and over again...especially after the let down last year (was even at the MD game in person)...I was truly shocked at the fact that we looked like (on offense) the same team as last year, but a little bit less...it seems like so much repetition and the same over and over...Guess it made me want to post again

really want to get insight from more seasoned posters who know the team and school better..

The drops were absurd.

We saw why Harris gets his Targets. When he gets the ball, despite his size, he makes stuff happen.

That being said, if we dont utilize the middle, I just don’t know anymore. Erv and Steve aren’t catching those sideline passes anymore. Gotta adjust. It’s been years. Gotta fix it.

Is it fair to say we have a "meathead" offensive scheme? It may look different from some others, but...

Yeah. So was the play calling. We couldn't even challenge a clear first down for him.

But but but he ran out of bounds and lost 3 yards on 3rd down when he could have thrown it away... or he took a sack instead of throwing into triple coverage... awful decision making...

Wanted to walk out of my house and walk into Onondaga Lake after the missed redzone attempt
I about spilled my entire glass of soda on my screen at all the drops. It was absurd and ruined any chance of us winning

In my book, the idea that Dino is a great football coach has been laid to rest through evidence. He's just another guy as it pertains to football expertise.
Greatness requires adjectives like precision, innovation, unpredictability, adaptability, improvisation, none of those apply...
