Leadership absolutely makes a difference. I've seen it with sports teams I've played on, in the Army and in companies I've worked for. There is a tangible difference between organizations with strong leadership and those with weak leadership. Anyone who says otherwise has either not studied it (and I don't necessarily mean academically) or is likely not paying attention.
