Leaving the Dome early.

Another fan leaving a game early has never upset me or ruined my enjoyment of going to the game. I don't get the nastiness of fans towards other fans that leave early. WHO CARES! Doesn't ruin my time at the game

It's obviously a free country and people are welcome to come and go as they please, but the reason it aggravates me is that I feel like people leaving early can affect the psyche of the players. These aren't pros, they're highly emotional 18-22 year old kids who's performance can be swayed by crowd support. These guys work so hard at practice day in and day out - I just think they deserve people to stay to the end in a game that was miles from being over.

eh...if a players feelings get hurt cause some fans leave early those aren't players I want on my team.

Honestly, today wasn't even that nerve-wracking.

Really, really happy for the kids. I don't believe that a 6-6 team (especially this particular 6-6 team) deserves a bowl bid. But it's great for the program that we got the win. The kids deserved it. And I want us to win every game we play. So that was a lot of fun. And the people who left are shmucks.

But it had nothing on the 2011 Wake game.

I know what you're saying from a pure game and comeback perspective as far as Wake game, but what this one had that wake didn't was the immediate determination of bowl bid or not. This made for even more pressure type situation for players and coaching staff and they stepped up and delivered when it counted at the end.

This is true.

Last game of the season > first game of the season.

Don't mean to diminish today. Awesome win for those guys.

Look I understand what you are saying but if you look at the stories of what some of these kids have endured I could see a few of them saying ... "I have been through hell and back and some people can't sit for a full 4 hours to watch a game?".

You have kids on this team that have been through some serious stuff and have chosen to represent our community and our school and giving them our support for a full 4 hours on a Saturday I don't think is unrealistic. Honestly I am extremely proud of the kids on that team ... and the coaches for giving them the guidance to succeed in life and not just in an athletic sense.

at least half of my section left. i was actually joking with a guy who i have been sitting next to for 25 years about people leaving early. that guy actually left. i couldn;t believe it. i know he is a die hard though and will never forgive himself.

even so there was still a decent amount of people left

I guarantee that the fans who left early are the same ones who try to initiate the wave every game.

Probably. The idiots make noise when we're on offense and sit on their hands when we're on defense. 25 years later and I still don't understand it.

The guy who runs the Dome Scoreboard today in the 1st quarter put up..."MAKE SOME NOISE" when we had the ball. I couldn't believe it!!!!!

The cheerleaders were making more noise when we were on O than D in the second half.Alot of people around me just followed their lead.Couldn't believe it.

It wasn't an empty Dome at the end. Yes, some left but it wasn't close to 10k that left. These kind of threads take on a life of their own.

Just like the 21K BS last week.Someone pulls a # out of there azz and everyone runs with it.

After the BC interception it looked like at least 10K people left the Dome.

Sigh…. I hope getting home 15 minutes early was worth missing one of probably the best half-dozen finishes in Dome history.

I'm just glad they showed to begin with.If they want to leave early,it's their loss.I have over a 2 1/2 hour drive home and there's not a chance in hell I leave before 00:00,but I'm not going to knock anyone that comes out to support the team.I'm just going to enjoy absolutely losing it when we score with :06 left to win the game.

Hearing that immediately gives it away that somebody has never left Central NY once in their life.

And THAT...is and has kind of been the point. For years we hear this "traffic is awful in Syracuse so getting out early is not OK for 'me", but understand it for others" BS. Try traffic in: NYC, ATL, CHI, LA, SF...

That then devolves into the: "Don't live there then. CNY is a great to live (which I agree with) and has many advantages over those places."

Nope. I actually stayed about 20 minutes post game just to soak it all in. We do have to remind a couple people that it is a 60 minute game though.

The wave is the worst cheer in sports and i refuse to participate in it. Actually its the second worst cheer in sports. The one the cheerleaders do during basketball games is the worst cheer in sports.

I would guess the fans that left early really don't care that they missed that ending. The fans that really care if we won or lost were the ones that were there to see us win.

Beg to differ. Happens to be a few prominent folks from this board who left early, I've come to know.

I feel bad everytime the players look up and see a relatively empty dome.

I thought the crowd today was much larger than I thought it would be. Much larger...,and louder.

I was hoping to avoid having to post this but the cats out of the bag so I will. I was one of the people who left early after the Hunt int. I never leave early but the frustration of that play and the run play before had me at my boiling point. Was it a mistake? Of course. I even stopped halfway and nearly went back to my seat but decided against it. That being said I would put my fandom up against anyone in this thread or on this board. Sometimes frustration can get the best of you but don't lump everyone who left early together we are sure as hell not equal.
