So next year the offense will be a full year into learning the Babers system. Looking at the stats Dungey is putting up now coupled with the fact Lamar Jackson will be in the NFL, will we be seeing Dungey on preseason Heisman lists? Is something like this up to the school to hype him or does ESPN/NCAA pick and choose?

I don't think it's unreasonable to expect 400+ passing yards per game next season and a lot of 40+ point games.

Which receiver gets on the Beletnekoff award watch first?

Erv or Ishmael??

He will get Heisman attention, yes.

That can do nothing but help SU and Babers. If it is up to the school to push for Hesiman hype, they should go balls to the wall for the next 2 years that Dungey is here. He is going to rewrite all the record books anyway, might as well go all out.

Not next year, by his senior year I think he will be.

I think he will get some talk next year, and if things really go the right way in his senior year he might possibly be a Heisman finalist. When is the last time we had a finalist?

Donnie Mc back in 1987

Doesn't Lamar Jackson have to stay one more season?

Players who have been out of high school for at least three years are eligible for the NFL draft. The rules do not state that a player must attend college, but virtually all of the players selected in the NFL draft have played college football.

Don't we have one more year of Lamar Jackson to look forward to?

Yes.

Dwight Freeney received two first place votes in 2001. Finished 9th.
Here are the rest that received votes:
Donovan McNabb, 13 first place votes in 1998. Finished 5th.
Don McPherson, 137 first place votes in 1987. Finished 2nd.
Larry Csonka, 22 first place votes in 1967. Finished 4th.
Floyd Little, 25 first place votes in 1966. Finished 5th.
Floyd Little, 51 first place votes in 1965. Finished 5th.
Ernie Davis, 179 first place votes in 1961. Won.
Jim Brown, 118 first place votes in 1956. Finished 5th.

Oh whoops I thought NFL was 2 years. You can't leave after your soph year?

I think at the end of next year he looks to the NFL... Doesn't mean he leaves us but he will consider it.

Not that I was alive but Brown in 5th was and still is a sad joke. Should've won.

Hate to be that guy, but not a chance. I could go on, and on why, but I won't. Heisman, NFL, not a shot.

I wouldn't rule out the NFL so fast. See Nassib, Ryan. And Dino has compared him Jimmy Garoppolo. Not bad gigs if you can get it. ED's head injuries concern me more than his talent, size, moxie, and intelligence.

Last guy to win the Heisman with less than 10 wins on the season was Ron Dayne.

Dungey only gets talked about if he puts up gaudy stats and the team is above .500. He doesn't get serious consideration unless we're at least an 8 win team and he's averaging 350/75 with 3 passing TD and 1 Rushing TD a game.

Looking at last 5 Heisman QBs

Mariota- 4500 yards. 42 TD, 4 INT, 770 on the ground, 15 TD
Jameis - 4000 yards, 40 TD, 10 INT, negligible rushing, but had a title appearance as a RS Fr.
Manziel - 3700 yards, 37 TD, 13 INT, 1400 on the ground, 21 TD
RGIII - 4300 yards, 37 TD, 6 INT, 700 on the ground, 10 TD
Cam - 2800 yards, 30 TD, 7 INT, 1500 on the ground, 20 TD. Got a boost from title appearance and being a human highlight reel.

So yeah, Dungey nees to pace for at least 4000 yards, a 4 to 1 TD/INT ration, and a 500+ yard rushing season with a TD a game to merit being talked about. And that's without being a 10 win team, unless Syracuse decides to shock the world next season.
