Really? 6 ppg. If you told me sullinger and thomas go 19/7 and 14/9 respectively..i take it and run like forrest gump.

this kid won if for them..out of nowhere...What.

He hit 2 incredibly tough and clutch 3s; he absolutely won OSU the game.

He sure did. But should he have been allowed back into the game? This sporting news article prints the following:

"
With just 2:24 elapsed in the first half of Ohio State’s 77-70 East Regional final win over Syracuse at TD Garden, Smith took a knock from Orange guard Brandon Triche, sending him to the floor. When he was helped to the bench, Smith said, he felt dazed, was having trouble placing what, exactly, was happening. The lights were too bright, he said, and the crowd noise was overwhelming."

Is it possible that he had a concussion? Reading that I would have guessed that he did. I am no doctor, but I think tOSU officials made a mistake by putting him back into the game honestly.

This kid will go down in history as the 2012 Kyle Kuric -- a no name who just happens to triple his average in a huge game.

Bounce it off the scoreboard, Lenzelle, it'll go in!!

Smith was the difference. Our defensive gameplan worked to near perfection--we limited Thomas and kept Buford in check. Those guys are flat out scorers, and we did what we needed to do.

Smith is a guy at this stage of his developmental curve that you want taking shots, daring him to beat you. And unfortunately he came through.

Damn.

The tear-drop over Rakeem was the absolute What shot...on tv it looked like he tipped it and it went straight up in the air, next thing its dropping through the net

Exactly...yet another unknown player that makes a huge splash against us.

He's one of the reasons why they won, for sure. To his credit, he stepped up in a big game.

His shot reminded me of Greg Monroe's (the SU version). It is JB's game plan to require lesser knowns to step up to beat us.

In fairness, I'm sure there are 10 or so of our own opponents this year who could say, "I can't believe that Southerland kid who only averages 6.6 ppg dropped 15 on us to beat us." Just because Smith Jr only averages 6 ppg doesn't necessarily mean he's talentless. Sometimes it's all about opportunity and matchups.

before he released the second 3, I said "no, not again" and boom that was it
