Lester/Hunt to Revitalize the Passing Game

Interesting. However, while it may not be rocket surgery - for a team that wants to close its practices, this seems like a little bit TMI.

Who doesn't love west coast concepts!

Not surprising to hear that Hunt likes the stick concept best. He's always seemed most comfortable hitting a target that's coming to a stop short, or just letting it fly down the sideline.

You can see the cat and mouse game setting up. Hunt's going to favor those reads that allow him to throw to a player coming to a stop. The defenses are going to cling to that. Is Hunt to the point where he can do the other things well enough that the defense can't key in on shutting down the things he likes to do? That'll make it or break it.

"Rather than counting the defensive box and reacting with a bubble screen or zone-read choice as they did in McDonald's offense"

aye yi yi

that approach works

the problem with SU was they DIDN'T count before throwing the bubble screen
I'm also convinced that those plays were just designed to look like reads.

I think people are sometimes unnecessarily hard on Hunt. Is he Unitas no, but he's also not the worst QB in the world. Not saying you in this post are being that hard on him just in general.

That was kind of my impression also. But I don't know enough X's and O's to really understand how much that info would help an opponent or if it's basically just standard stuff.

That doesn't scream "simplified" to me. It seems as though it's going to give Hunt more freedom, but that success is going to be based upon the offense being on the same page in terms of the correct read.

There should be more sideline go routes as those seem to be where Hunt has had success in the past.

Correct me if I'm wrong but during the Spring game, weren't the sideline passes the ones he seemed to overthrow the most?

Maybe, but I was thinking about throws to Cornelius in 2013 against Pitt, West last year in the Maryland game, and one to Broyld against Nova.

For the love of god can we attack the middle. That is all i want.

west coast is Latin for "no scoring"

i want east coast -its Latin for" kick you in the mouth till your dog bleeds"

you hit me once me and my friends hit you twice-player who can straddle the edge and stay on this side of dirty

Well, statistically for a good stretch of his 2013 season he was not that far from the worst QB in the world. I exaggerate, but he wasn't good.

He had his better moments last year, post-punch/pre-injury, but he had some really bad ones as well.

I'm just hoping he's functional. I want more than that, but I'll take functional.

Yeah, wasn't trying to "flame". Just thought I remembered from Spring game that it was scary how off he was on seemingly basic throws. He can definitely make some throws, he's shown that through his career but at the same time he's shown he's just as likely to go 2 - 12 in a stretch during a game missing some fairly basic stuff. I hope this isn't the case, I think the season needs him to in the very least be consistent more than any other person on the team. Other than the kicker.

He's a weird player. There's obvious ability there. There are also obvious limitations.:noidea:
