Lester/Hunt to Revitalize the Passing Game

He's a weird player. There's obvious ability there. There are also obvious limitations.:noidea:

Name that ability, and those limitations.

He is a strong runner (not nimble or shifty) with good size. Durable in 2013 (his back-ups were banged up after 2 or 3 games in 2014). He might be our best red zone threat (with his feet). His threat to run is a big element in our run game. He was the MVP of a bowl win. He has the respect of his teammates. As a passer, he has below average accuracy, unless he has made great strides in the off-season. And, as a package at QB, he is head and shoulders better than any of SU's back-ups.

He and Ishmael have to stay healthy for this team to have a shot at 7 wins. Other than all that, he has limitations.

His ability is running. His limitations are throwing.

He's effective as a running QB, but he struggles to complete passes after rushing attempts. The biggest limitation to me is that he struggles to throw crisp passes to moving targets - lots of wobblers to slants. He has made some good end of game plays to win games. Stat nerds say there's no such thing as clutch, but I believe there is and for a QB that really matters. Hunt has shown that he can lead a winning team.

Look, we all know a lot is riding on the guy, but he has a TON to prove. Not just that he's healthy, which I think we're all kind of taking for granted, but also that he learned a lot in the booth to make him a smarter player, and he improved his skills as a passer. It's also fair if fans are a little wary of his judgment given the ejection last season.

Here's hoping it's a fun ride. He's shown enough for us to be optimistic. There are enough question marks for people to take a wait and see approach. He's our best option right now and gives us the best to win. He's a completely different player, but this could set up similar to how Nassib put it all together as a senior.

Classic Millhouse. Made me chuckle. I was trying to be a little softer about it.

that's all well and good if you want your team to be "exciting" and "score lots of points" - I'd like to think we as Syracuse fans have more important goals for our team. Things like "limiting mistakes" and "shortening the game" for example.
"limiting mistakes" and "shortening the game" are things that "sh!tty" "boring" "lousy" teams do in hopes to get to 7 wins if everything goes their way

(and your joke went way over my head - whoops!)

I gave this a like because I choose to believe this was a tongue in cheek post.

UCLA, wash st, arizona, cal, arizona st, oregon are all running college spreads

UClA, Zona, Cal, and ASU use a lot of WC passing principles out of the spread.

My guess is Lester's offense is going to look a lot more like Hackett/Marrone's WC-Gun offense than Bill Walsh's 1992 offense with Rathman going in motion.

Maybe worth it to send a note to Lester reminding him of the issue with throwing after a QB run.

pffff if Arizona is running west coast principles, everyone is. we ran UCLA's offense last year which had west coast passing principles supposedly but now lester wants to switch to west coast passing principles even though they were there last year

it's just something football guys say at this point

very much tongue in cheek - after the past 15 seasons I might just kill for a dynamic, well schemed and executed offense

I hate hearing year after year that the offense just needs to manage the game and let the defense win it
