Red came in and said we were going to play in your face man to man. We have seen none of that so far. Our entire roster this year and even last year lacked intensity, toughness and overall defensive mindset. Last year we gave up more points per game in any season in 35 years. This year we have given up more ppg in any season in 53 years. I could excuse the lack of talent and NIL deficiencies if we played hard and grinded it out possession by possession.

We have a roster where Joe Girard would be the best defender had he been on the team. This is a major coaching issue and likely cannot be fixed by dollars and talent. Teams are scoring 79 ppg against us. It’s unheard of.

Yeah he has totally said things and then cant display that vision on the court.

By comparison in football, Shafer talked about hard nosed and he had some talent on defense initially and wanted to run the ball.

Dino wanted to spread it out and outscore people and you could at least see that vision despite going 4-8 his first 2 years and then the stars aligned for his 10 win season.

However with Red I just see no display of his vision that he talks about and no identity for the program, he just hasn't built any foundation. And that's why his tenure will be pretty short I predict.

We have a team full of players who can't or won't play defense. No intensity, no toughness and no mindset. Your words.

Isn't that the definition of a talent issue?

I have no idea what we're teaching these guys in practice, but it's pretty obvious they're not doing it.

If I send you to the store to buy me a six-pack of Amstel Light, and you come back with Keystone Light, is that a talent issue or a coaching issue?

It means I’m a shtty messenger and you’re a shtty listener.

Every post conference Red says, “We talked about this or that.” Talking about it isn’t how you fix it. You drill it over and over in practice. If someone doesn’t do something correct over and over you stop playing them. No exceptions. The same guys continue to play and continue to not guard anyone. Who’s to blame? You have to be consistent and stop practice every time someone screws up and correct it. Every time. Not just once in a while. That’s on the coaching staff.

We talked about this in the game thread last night.

If we benched everyone who didn't listen, we'd be starting Alex Kline and Noah Lobdell.

If there are low effort guys who aren’t listening, why are they in the game? Have to be an a-hole and sit them. Even if you play the scrubs.

The coaching stinks, the playing stinks, the NIL stinks, the treadmill stinks, everything stinks.

Put in the walk ons or play four on five. At least you lose with dignity. Play a four man zone. Can it get much worse on defense?

Your first line screams that there is an evaluation issue. It's why we seem to get mostly soft players who don't listen to the coach.

It’s a talent issue if it happens once, maybe twice. Coaching issue every time after that.

A coach can’t be expected to get through to everyone the first time. They can absolutely be expected to adapt if they haven’t gotten through.

This post and these comments should be blasted in Autry and his staffs face until they accept the failure and decide to change.

Autry better start making calls to find staff replacements. The GM better find defense in the portal too.

Wildhack better start getting contingency plans for moving away from Autry sooner than expected even after knowing we were already bad this year. No one is really talking about this much but there are alot of ACC programs that need kickstarts and rebuilds. How many exceptional coaches are really out there, I know ideas are thrown around here and sure they're upgrades but for real it doesn't feel like there's enough coaches for how many teams need them.

Heads gotta roll and it should be Autry's but he's gonna get just enough breathing room to get year 3. Yesterday morning I would've said there was a 1% chance Autry goes, this morning it's 5 %. If they lose out and there is mutiny with the big dawgs making decisions then maybe it's 20%.

Everything you just said is Talent and NIL. You just made the argument for the polar opposite of your intention.

If I could bet my entire net worth on Autry being back next year I would do it.

I've said this before: it's not that we're losing, it's that we look like an AAU team doing it.

JW has to see that. Slim chance JW has confidence Red can turn it around and next year is more than treading water to tick a year off the contract.

If Red turns it around to become a TOP coach in college, which is what this program deserves, it would be so miraculous they'd make a move out of it starring Denzel.

Yea I’m one that thinks, red knows basketball better than me. He knows how to coach better than me. Give him some time to figure it out. I certainly don’t wanna lose the recruits we have next year but…. After three quarters of the season, they still have no clue how to defend a screen and don’t move without the ball on offense. The most basic stuff. Things these players should already know coming out of high school and they aren’t doing it at all. I’m a die hard fan that dreads watching games now. Gotta make a change as soon as possible is my new feeling.
