JB's comments were true given the information he had at the time. Insensitive? Perhaps. But I'm a body of work kind of guy. Not only is he an amazing coach, but he has done more for the cancer cause than any public figure that I can think of. Donates his time to the community, and is a genuine person. No Bullstuff with JB, that's refreshing in this day in age. I give him credit for saying what he believed without the lawyer-y filter of garbage espoused by so many, even if it wasn't the right thing to say.

The lynch-mob does not have the U's best interest in mind. They have their own, which is to sell a sensational story and vilify someone's insensitive comments to come across as a superior person.

If the University caves to the lynch mob and fires JB, I will:
  • Never donate another dime to the University or athletic program.
  • Resign from my position on a board with the Engineering college.
  • Never buy another "Syracuse licensed" product again. And let me tell you, I personally keep the color Orange en vogue.
  • Generally disassociate myself from the University. I have steered many students to the school and have recruited multiple Syracuse grads to the Fortune 500 company where I work.
  • I will never buy another ticket to the Carrier Dome again for anything.

If others feel the same as me, I hope you are just as vocal if not more so than the lynch-mobs.

I agree 100%. I love syracuse. This will be a divorce.

I wouldnt go that far. I live in Syracuse, hate the outdoors in the winter and need Syracuse basketball. I would be very upset but life goes on. Why penalize the kids for a decision that is out of their control.

No way. I respect your opinion but JB isn't the program to me. I love him for what he has done here and he built this baby but I certainly wouldn't throw the baby out with the bath water. I love Syracuse athletics and that would not change.

It will certainly be an unbelievably sad day if it did end up that way because the man deserves to go out however he wants. If he does get canned, it would just be another PC move in this PC world we live in. Sad but true. Knowing who our chancellor is, I don't think this is going to end well for James Arthur Boeheim.

Not saying that JB is the program. Just saying it's a matter of principle. JB has arguably brought more success, name recognition, $, and cache to the University than anyone else. He deserves better than this over insensitive remarks.

Like it or not, the University is a business. I'll be voting with my time and dollars if they do the wrong thing. Not saying it will be easy though. The University is part of what has defined me as a person.

yes what you say but if he had just treated some people a little better along the way he may have had enough capital put away to ride this out. Still may but I can see it coming back to bite him in the butt. I'll be Orange to the end, JB isn't the whole face of it, huge part yes but not the whole thing. Two not three constants in life...death, taxes and change. This isn't in the PSU scope, we'll be fine in the end with or without him.

I agree with all of your sentiments above. 100%. I HATE PC and for a man's legacy to be tarnished and for him to basically be lumped into the Paterno category for speaking his mind is disturbing. Its also the world we live in and the direction our country is moving. I don't think this will end well with Nancy Cantor at the controls.

But, for me personally, there is no way I could extract Syracuse athletics from my life. And Don't get me wrong, I will be raging mad if it does happen.

Totally agree. This would be some whacked PC bull.

There is not a single person with any self respect who wouldnt react in exactly the same way. JB needs to lawyer up and get ready to sue the university into oblivion if they do anything other than a symbolic wrist slap.

I'm about 99% in agreement with your emotions right now. But step back and look at the situation as objectively as you can. Your comments here are so similar to what I was reading from Penn State fans when they let Paterno go, it gives me pause.

I have absolutely no idea what I'll do if the fire JB. None. I said in another thread that I might stop going to games altogether...but that is, for me, more of a decision based on not enjoying going to games than any kind of political statement. I might stop donating to SU...I might not. I just don't know.

What I've learned in life is that emotional decisions are generally not good ones - really the only decisions I've made in life I later regretted were emotional ones. If JB gets fired, I'd encourage you to step away from the keyboard and TV, take a "Cuse-cation" for a week, or two, or however long it takes to feel that intense emotion subsiding...and then make you decisions about how to proceed.

If he goes for defending a friend, for loyalty, for believing in the University funded independent investigation and coming out very strongly in support of Bernie Fine it will be a cruel blow. I will find no justice in that type of a decision. Did his words diminish other voices of abused people from stepping forward? We can assume the answer is yes. Still if that is what he is guilty of I do not think he should pay any penalty, in fact from what I have heard of JB he may well try and become an advocate for that cause. He is a good man, one who deserves all of the SU communities loyalty. Let the lynch mob win this and anyone who ever takes a public stand for a friend or an employer will fear speaking up which is just as bad as making abuse victims fear speaking up. He has my full support.

I agree with most of what you said. I just don't think this is as black and white as people say. If JB's only fault was going over the top with his comments when this first came out, I just don't think that's worthy of his dismissal. There were way too many questions about the veracity of the Davis/Lange statements. JB had his opinion and expressed it. Politically incorrect, yes. But the fact is, we still don't know what is true and what is not. There may well be a lot of lies in this mess right now -- Tomaselli, Lange, or even statements made by Davis.

I admit, I probably wouldn't go so far as to disassociate myself from the University, but it would put a serious dent in my support.
