I was at the Rutgers game in 1984. We weren't very good but we had more talent than Rutgers. Anyway, they beat us 19-0. We fumbled on separate drives I think around 4 times inside the 10. I came home and told everyone that we should have won the game. everyone said, you got beat 19-0. You shouldn't have won. the following week, a 28 pt home underdog Syracuse beat #1 Nebraska. LSU won't pick us apart in the air. If we have Eric, I won't concede the game. Will we win, probably not. Better better teams than LSU have lost to worse teams than us. And this week's game means nothing next week.

I'm not so sure, I think LSU's passing attack is far superior to CMU; they just don't need it with that running attack of theirs...

at least the internet didnt really exist then .. the board would have been an angry mob after the Rutgers loss, just like now and we all know how the nebraska game turned out .. you know the saying 'on any given sunday (sat) "

Harris is far from accurate but their WR corp is really athletic.

I know we're going to follow all the protocols closely, so SU won't do something stupid with Dungey.

That said, I hope he's ready to go and plays. We get a lot of exposure this week. Will have either ESPN or ABC. We're facing the team that was probably most talked about yesterday and the player that was certainly the most talked about. Heisman frontrunner.

I'd hate to have all that exposure and watch the Wilson and Mahoney show pile up 80 yards and 0 points in game that everyone has changed the channel by halftime. Maybe they'll surprise me, but I'd rather Dungey get a shot at some national attention. Our O will still struggle against this D, but still, we'd likely make a few more plays, maybe keep it interesting for the first half.

Their QB is not as good. Better WR for sure.

this LSU team isn't in the same league as that Nebraska vintage. I just wonder how this Syracuse team compares w the 84 edition.
it's a game of turnovers, momentum and some luck. If those can all go our way then we have a shot. No reason to think otherwise.

Easy to say now. At the time, Sports Illustrated had just run a story on how the #1 Huskers were the best Nebraska team ever.

THIS.

True. Many folks picked Cuse to be 3-0 and then lose to LSU. However, there is one guy who happens to be HCSS and I guarantee that he isn't thinking loss. Like most head coaches he doesn't care if he is playing the number one team of all time or the little sisters of the poor. Fortunately this game means something to him and I am sure that he will have his players ready and fight until the very end. I know I took your quote out of context but for HCSS, this is a very big game for the Syracuse football program.

Hey, not trying to rain on the parade here, I'm just pretty unfamiliar with Dungy. I know he looked good against Wake, but as a freshman is he really good enough to make a difference against LSU? Outside of the final quarter of the Mississippi St. game, our secondary hasn't really been tested this year. Let's assume Dungy does play. Is your O-Line good enough to stand up to our front seven? Just curious, and agree that anything can happen on any given week, so good luck to you guys.

You are missing the point. With him, we look like a football team. Without him, we don't. We may lose badly with him. But without him, there is no reason to watch the game other than just being a hopelessly devoted fan.

The kid has something special about him. Your secondary is scary, but if he plays, he might be able to make things happen, but it would be a hell of a test.

Rush is legit. He doesn't

So a guy that can make you competitive, but probably not ready to win these types of games yet without some breaks? Is that a fair statement? I just get the feeling that this guy is one to

Good to know. I'm looking forward to it as you guys are the best non-conference we have this year, so not sleeping on this one. I'm already planning on tickets for the return game in Tiger Stadium. I hope Dungy is healthy and can play as I would like to see him in action.

And didn't finish my statement on Rush. He's for real, so if your D can handle him, I think Harris is very similar but with less experience and less accuracy right now. It's not the passing game that anyone has to worry about right now though.

that's true...and also why I'd like to replace Fournette's plane ticket with one to Siracusa, Italy.

It's OK. We get it. You guys are one of the truly good teams in college football and have been for many years.

I'll be surprised if we are able to keep it respectable.

I keep telling myself that Dungey can't be as good as he has looked in the past two games. He appears to be a phenom. I have been watching SU football for over 50 years and his performance in these games has been superior to any first year QB we have ever had with the exception of possibly McNabb.

Dungey's field and game awareness are superior. He has pitched the ball at the last nanosecond. And he knows when to keep the ball and run himself. His judgement and touch passing have been great.

Now, will he revert to the form of a true, average freshman against LSU? It sure could happen. Will the superior speed of the LSU athletes throw his timing off? Maybe.

But right now on the basis of two games I'd say LSU better not turn the ball over and make a bunch of mistakes or things could bet interesting in the Dome.
