You guys call that basketball? Its freaking embarrassing. Basically the game is give the ball to Melo, watch him dribble fifty times and either shoot or get fouled...or turn it over...this continues the entire game, every game.

Why doesnt he make it easy on himself and pass the ball when he is quadruple teamed, move without the ball, and then get a much easier look?

What the knicks win with is essentially 'tard strength. That type of play has a ceiling for how far you can go in the playoffs.

Melo is a great scorer, but he could be so much more if he just wasn't so damn selfish and facilitated ball movement. Hell, he could take the same number of shots as he does now, and dominate the ball still, but it would be much less effortful if he would just give up the rock once in a while and...get it back later.

Its so bloody obvious that I know he knows this, and his coaches know this, and his teammates know this...yet nothing changes.

Cowherd goes too far on his Melo hatred , and this is not hate, this is longing for what could be.

Melo was a bit ridiculous today, but what do you want him to do? You want Shumpert, KMart, Chandler, Priginoi (sp?), or Copeland taking an extra 12 shots again just so Melo takes less? Durant took 30 shots last night without Westbrook.

With no JR Smith in the lineup, how else are the Knicks going to score? Felton did his part, but there's not much else there to work with.

I didnt say that. Read again. I said he needs to move the ball around...hell get it back..

When you have JR out due to a stupid play on his part and a max contract guy out injured, exactly what do you expect the Knicks to do? I think they have played remarkably well most of the year considering all the injuries they have had. I can't think of another team in the league who has played as well with a max contract guy playing a very minor role in the team's success this year.

Melo missed a lot of shots he normally makes today. He would not have taken nearly as many with JR and a healthy Amare in the game. He did set a Knicks playoff record though with the number of foul shots he took.

The OP I'm sure was frustrated when he wrote the post and I was as well with the outcome. And I would have liked Melo to pass the ball a bit more. But I place the most blame on JR. If he played today, the Knicks most likely have a week off to get healthy. Let's hope noone gets injured Wednesday or JR will have a tough time living with that stupid elbow

Have you watched the Knicks/melo at all this year or just yesterday, this post suggests yesterday, has been a facilitator to the offense all season

There was way too much iso ball yesterday.

I am somewhat sympathetic to the POV that there weren't a lot of shot creators other than Melo on the court, and some of that was necessary, but it's also worth pointing out that the Knicks had a really nice offensive run at the end of the third quarter with Melo on the bench.

I watch the NBA about 2-3 times per week and the way the Knicks have been playing looks really ugly, but they've been winning. Jason Kidd really needs to step up and control the ball more IMo.

Exactly. They lost 23 points off the bench. Where's that going to come from? Next to Amare (injured), Melo's the only volume scorer on the team. I say, relax. They're up 3-1 in the playoffs... best in a long time. Enjoy the ride while it lasts.

The Knicks intentionally lost that game so they could clinch at home.
