Lets give Lester props...

Come on. What. Your up 30-7 in the 4th, what do you want them to do. Geeze.

Agreed. We were up huge, played to shorten game the entire fourth quarter.

I could tell watching the taped game that we were really pushing the tempo. Usually I can FF from play to play, but we were lining up so quick, I couldn't. Even the cameras panned away and missed the start if sine plays. I liked the tempo.

I still want to see more Gulley.

Ok explain to me how this is not a good defensive performance again ...
Yeah the d was fine. Still not sold on this offense. Love ish.

Morris ol'ayed another screen pass that was a really a cool call - I thought it was sort of unique the way they ran it.
Disappointed about this-He's done this a few times already. Please hrown those to Gulley, Mcfarlane, or Phillips. Morris has lost that privilege.

Throw bombs!!!!! Crush 'em!! Like Coach said in Cheers "We only won by 1 run!!...What's the point of winning if you can't humiliate the other team...you gotta CRUSH 'EM...CRUSH 'EM!!".

Season 2 Episode 8.

i think this team at this point should go to the huddle. they really are not executing the hurry up offense with any consistency. they are a team that needs the huddle to effectively communicate and focus. no huddle should have scrapped two weeks ago

Disagree. They've practiced and communicated this way for a long time. No reason to go back now. Communication has been much better with Lester.

Shafer said false starts were on Long and his cadence.

Dude has called two very solid games. Not sure I've seen a head scratcher yet. I think Long helps- kid is accurate as hell. Makes every call look like it has potential.

Ishmael is the first receiver since Williams that i feel you can just throw it up there and feel good he will win most battles.

Other than the two TD returns, I wasn't all that fired up by our defense. Though we gave up chunks of yardage to a garbage offense.

DId you see the call to go for it on 4th and goal... FROM THE SIX? AGAINST THE #1 TEAM IN THE COUNTRY. And then did you see the fade?

I'll say he has been pretty good... but thats def a head scratcher. And he only got 16 points (3 fgs UGH) against Wake.

Those Stats don't tell the story, our defense got pushed around pretty good today. We dialed up blitzes against green QBs and made some big plays. When we didn't sell out, we gave up chunks against an anemic offense.

Prior to the scoop and score wake hashed us three straight plays.

Plays 10 yards or greater today:

Syracuse - 10
Wake - 9

It was not a great defensive performance outside of the two scores.

uhhh what?!

Our D lived in their backfield. The D wasnt good. It was excellent.

They had 170 yards of offense. Take away 1 drive and Im not sure what "chunks" you are talking about.

Two great play calls today were dropped passes. Morris ol'ayed another screen pass that was a really a cool call - I thought it was sort of unique the way they ran it.

The second play was the wheel to west. Great call great pass. West shoulda caught it.

West... oh man that was a beautiful play and pass.

The call was supposed to go to Custis who had a height advantage of 6 inches. Wilson didn't go to the right guy. You go for the TD if you don't think your D can hang (which they couldn't - that's also Shafer's call not Lesters).

We played conservatively on O in the 2nd half vs Wake because our D was destroying their O. Wake's D is pretty good. Also - the TD from Long to Ish was a BS pass interference call.

Yup. The one yesterday he barely stuck his arms out because he heard footsteps and was scared to get hit. That in my book finds you a seat on the bench.

He's been disappointing all season, probably because we all expected a breakout season for him.

Next year will be fun. DM and Erv are clearly in the drivers seat, and 3 freshman coming in hungry.

Liked the play calling the last two games. Did not like the call for a reverse against Wake, it put Long in harms way and we need to protect him. Did like the conservative play calling at the end of the game, don't give your opponent a chance to get back in the game.

At the end of the first half I thought we should have taken time outs earlier to try and get the ball back one more time. I feel like that sort of aggressiveness is needed, I'd like to see some confidence in the offense to put up one more score before half. Realize that is HCSS's decision and not Lester's.

Totally agree. He is clearly much more suited to be an OC than McDonald ever was. It will stink to lose McDonald because of his recruiting but he is a poor coach and his time as OC was an utter disaster

He's not a poor coach. He just failed in his first stint as an OC. There's a difference. You don't get the opportunity to be a WR coach at 4 P5 schools without being able to coach.

The sun, which was very bright and low in the sky, was in West eyes. I think he lost the ball. If you look at the replay he has both arms stretched out where the ball is not headed and then makes a one handed jab at it when he reacquires it. Just rub of the green.

And let's not forget that our WRs are doing a fine job right now. McD gets credit for that. The kids run routes, block, catch and makes us want more of it.

***coughcough his second stint as OC coughcough***

edit: to add to the point, I don't think anyone disputes that he is, at minimum, a competent WR coach. People's issue with him is as an OC. You can hide an average to poor coach who is an ace recruiter as a position coach. You can't do that at the coordinator level.

Sorry, failed in his first stint as an OC at a P5 school. Is that better? And calling him a poor OC and a poor coach are two entirely different things and it's not splitting hairs.
