They didn't win the game for us or lose the game for UNC-Asheville.

1) It WAS a lane violation. It might frustrate people, but it was. Indisputable.
2) The ball was out of bounds on Brandon, and should have been UNC-Asheville ball. Oh wait, it actually should have been a foul because the UNC-Asheville dude undercut Brandon
3) The goaltend against Baye was without a doubt a clean block. It wasn't even close.
4) Brandon should have got two shots at the end of the half, instead of it being UNC-Asheville ball.

Please stop with all the self defeating bull ref garbage. That might be the narrative at ESPN, but let's make sure that it's not the narrative on here, because it's not true.

SU played like crap, and won the games, and the refs (despite all of the questionable calls) didn't win the game for us.

Oh come on. Haven't you heard that a Tru TV investigation has determined that the refs were paid off through a special SU athletics slush fund? Details to come later in broadcast.

It is just so frustrating to see facts twisted and omitted to make some claim against Syracuse. Its not just ESPN or TruTV, its everyone. Yahoo is running with it. I'm sure others are too. That call on Triche where they just forgot that he was fouled prior to the shot clock expiring was the worst "missed" call of the game by far - it wasn't even missed! They called it and just decided not to enforce the call. I have never seen anything like it ever. Nobody mentions it. I just can't understand.

Absolutely on the mark. The refs sucked once again. And they were equal opportunity incompetents.

We won ugly again, just like we've been doing pretty regularly since late January.

Five more ugly wins are all we need. I think we can do it. And if we don't, it has still been a great season except for all the off the court crap, the media and the refs.

Its because people

Its because people don't do their homework and this is the ncaa tournament. They will only show the underdog as being screwed never the better seed unless they lose. And if the better seed loses they will only show one bad call to make the refs look competent and talk about how they still had their chances.

Hey UNC never cut it to within three either. Any arguing is just stupid.

...of course they had ncaa head ref discuss the calls:
1. lane violation was correct..but it is a weird rule of guy coming from outside the lane--right call
2. BT was fouled...if you did not call foul then UNC ball
3. Only way to review end of first half play was fact that game clock was wrong...so in review could look at everything...thought BT's shot wasnt good but foul was--no discussion
4. Goal tend was questionable...either way

So much for that.

Ya the Trische call was your standard "I don't want to call a foul but I also don't want to give the ball to the team that fouled" that college refs make all the freaking time. I'm not saying that's right but it's ridiculous that people pretend like that's never happened before.

Bottom line - I don't start Gottlieb threads and whine about espn hating us and other conspiracies but even somebody applying for "objective poster of the year" has to admit the media wants a #16 to beat a #1 badly and to believe otherwise is foolish. I would even admit that the calls favored us overall but no more than they went against us vs Vermont (of course there was no 'controversy' after that game).

1. It wasn't even a close call IMHO...two Ashville guys had violations and I couldn't believe the announcers couldn't see the obvious foot in the lane before the ball had left Scoop's hand

2. That call was a bit screwed...clearly out on Brandon but in that case you can also call the foul. It should have either been Asheville's ball or BT goes to the line. I think we caught a bit of a break on that one as I think most officials would let that contact go

4. Brandon should have gotten shots at the end of the half as it looked to me like the foul occurred before the clock wound down

I thought it was illegal for refs to take away a foul call like they did to Triche.
I don't think I have ever seen that happen in 10 years of watching basketball.
I thought foul calls were something the refs couldn't overturn.

I do wonder on the ruling though.
Should that have been one shot and the bucket because the shot clock experied after the foul, or just two shots?

I thought they said that Triche didn't shoot free throws at the end of the half because of the fact that he didn't get the shot off before the clock expired, so therefore, it wasn't technically in the act of shooting, or something weird like that, but wouldn't we have been in the bonus anyway at that point? I have no idea.

Well that has to be bullshit. People get hacked all the time and the shot looks nothing like a shot, that doesn't suddenly make it not a foul.

Then it would be our ball with a new shotclock even if we aren't in the bonus.
