Lets pump the brakes...

While your argument applies to some, I've noticed a lot of people who want to stone you to death if you say anything negative about the program or disagree with their opinion. For instance, I'm not completely sold on Doug just yet. He's done a helluva job to get us respectable, but I'm not sure he can recruit the kids to get us to the next level. I hope I'm wrong. Our schedule is gonna get a tad bit harder the next couple years, I hope we're not stuck in neutral.

Hey 03 not you or anyone else can judge Marrones recruiting negatively. He's had exactly 2 full recruiting classes. That's right dude just freaking 2!! His oldest players are equivalent of redshirt freshman. So you need to realize that you have no idea if he can recruit players to take us to the next level for atleast 3 years. Get a grip dude!

Not really. I read all kinds of posts on here about how good a matchup this was for us. Stuff about how the defense was going to roll against a freshman QB that had really struggled to move the ball, how the offense we saw against WFVU was what we had going forward, etc.

Louisville became a bad matchup once they kicked the crap out of us.

Nonsense.

There were some posts suggesting that Louisville / Uconn were the two worst teams remaining on our schedule [correctly], but I don't remember a single one suggesting "how good a matchup this was for us."

I did, however, see a ton of posts worrying that Louisville's style of defensive play was a poor matchup for our offense. I guess you missed all of those posts.

RF, we usually agree on a lot of stuff, but not this.

How about this thread? http://syracusefan.com/threads/i-bet-shafers-eyes-got-big-when-he-saw-this.5610/ Started by our own GoSU96, he who possesses opinions more valid than others. I kid, I kid.

This one by a helpful Louisville fan - http://syracusefan.com/threads/louisville-vs-syracuse-preview.5471/#post-54525. Again, with mentions that this is a good matchup for SU.

Heck, just look at the preseason progs - http://syracusefan.com/threads/ok-b...me-of-year-again-preason-progs.332/#post-2457. Just a handful of Ls listed against Ville.

The majority of people on this board expected a win. I take that to mean that the majority of the board thought we had a good matchup.

Now that we lost, it wasn't. I find that interesting.

Oh, c'mon. There's a difference between people talking about strategic elements of a matchup might work for or against us versus proclaiming that "how good a matchup this was for us," as you suggested.

Pretty big difference.

Some people critical of the 'Vill loss are using it to pass final judgment on Marrone. I suspect these people already disliked Marrone and the defeat just confirms their earlier bias. Fair enough. However, I don't even think we can pass judgment on this season, never mind the tenure of the guy in charge, yet. It's a work in progress. Is this a successful season for SU? Have we pushed the ball forward? We just don't know yet. There's so much to play for still.
