The news has slowed down a bit so let's throw this hypothetical log on the fire.

As of this writing, based on the latest public news I have seen it is yet possible for the remaining Big 12 schools to kiss and make up including TAM.The first prerequisite for this would be for UT to agree to split the pot equally of the LHN network.

If this were to happen...then what?

Does all expansion stopped dead in it's tracks?

Do they attempt to increase membership by raiding the Big East. Probably not if they have to split revenue more ways.

Would the ACC expand to 16 if the Big 10 was not a current expansion threat to the NE market?

Who does the BE go after to backfill for SU and Pitt? Not many choices as we know. Would they keep a AQ due to the ND factor?

I think the SU/Pitt move was a large enough domino (destabilized the Big East just enough) that expansion is going to happen. UConn, RU and WVU want out in the worst of ways.

And you know that Cinci and LVille will shoot to a stabilized B12 in a heartbeat. Not to mention what all this Big East destabilization does for Notre Dame...

Now, whether the B12 can salvage itself is a different story. There are enough quality programs in the midwest that no one wants to create a relatively strong conference.

They would have to add SOMEBODY since AQ Conferences need 8 members and as the BE is now, they are at seven.
