Here is a very good article on the lies and ignorance of FSU/Clemson reasons for possibly leaving the ACC. It endeavors to set aside the lies and untruths and get to the bottom the story. If nothing else it points out that people have agendas and with the internet and twitter etc; those agendas are given life...wasn't it so much easier back 10 years ago?!

That blog reads very much like this board over the last couple of weeks.

My opinions after reading it:
1) The B12 is desperate. They know that they need expansion. It cannot come from teams in the Pac12, the SEC or the B10. So who is left? The leftovers of the BE, maybe a BYU, or teams from the ACC. The B12 orchestrated the rumors to weaken the only legitimate player that they could.

2) The B12 saying "We have no interest in leaving the ACC out..." is a little like me saying, "My neighbor seems like a nice enough guy, I really don't know if he beats his wife." Just saying it, is suggesting it.

3) Hate the comparison to the Iraq war. This is football, just football.

People will figure out this might be a battle to the death between the acc and big 12.

Would anyone be surprised if swofford is ground zero for the Oklahoma to the big 10 rumors.

Here's the other thing...the big 12 is using swaim for their agenda.

Lies, deceit ... I don't know. At the end of the day all of these schools will be out for a few extra bucks (SU included). It's an adjustment, but we might as well start getting used to it.

that's what i have been calling it, a death match between the acc and b12.

The few extra bucks though are not going to help them win a MNC in the Big12 over the ACC and the thought that the ACC will not have an equal path to the MNC is based on a false premise and totally emotional rather than factual based but we'll wait to see what structure they come up with.

could be but they just revoked his credentials like they did last year also when he was talking about missouri and atm to the sec. they don't seem to like him or it could be a ruse.

I don't think they want him around for media events, but someone in that league is clearly using him to get an agenda out there in the twitter medium. That's probably where they'd rather keep him, since the guy probably doesn't know his a ss from his elbow. But you don't have to know that to be considered a credible source in expansion. You just have to be noisy. I do like how he takes credit for breaking aTm to the SEC. The SEC themselves were never shy about wanting aTm, well before even Nebraska/Colorado bolted from the Big 12.

Long term the ACC will win out and im not just saying that because of Syracuse being a member. When it comes to a total sports league there is no comparison. TV needs content and viewership. Between Football and i would say that the ACC top to bottom can hang with the Big 12, Basketball isnt even close, Baseball, Lacrosse and the other Olympic sports it isnt even close. The ACC controls some of the top media markets in the country and has an affluent grad base something that does matter with advertisers. ESPN hasnt thrown the entire weight of its Network behind the ACC on a whim. The dust bowl is not a long term competitor to the Eastern seaboard. Never has been and never will be. Swofford knows what he is doing and i truly believe when the dust settles the ACC will be just fine.

Espn wants the big 12 to sign 13 yr GOR, gives them plenty of time to make LHN profitable for them and Texas. Texas AD after he gets all the suckers signed, then suddenly louisville and someone will be invited to get to 12, maybe memphis or cincinnati.

Long term, I think the ACC wins out because of geography -- even though we have seen that geography has very little to do with conference realignment. The geographic considerations of the PAC12, will ultimately be the undoing of the B12. The PAC12 is here to stay. They are solid. And EVENTUALLY, they're going to expand again. When they do, they will not be looking to add Santa Clara or the Banana Slugs of California Santa Cruz. They're going to be looking squarely at the B12 -- again! The B10 may still scarf up a B12 team, and the SEC is going to take almost anyone they want. But if the SEC takes an ACC team or two, the ACC will look to a couple of other teams in the near east. The B12 is screwed. If they don't make a big push east (and WVU aside, it looks like that push failed), then it's just a matter of time before they are whittled away to nothing.
