Linebackers in coverage

Davis is a converted WR, isn't he? I'd expect that he would be among the quicker, and
therefore better, LBs in coverage. I don't know how good Diabate, or Spruill, or Lynch
are, but I for certain don't want a walkon out there, and I probably don't want Vaughn
out there, especially after he was torched earlier in the game. I know SU has a lot more
DBs, and maybe some of them should've been out there, but Davis getting beat on an
really, really good throw doesn't bother me.

I saw the replay... it was definitely a backwards pass.

I know. And was obvious that the game wasn't going to be stopped for a replay, not like NW was hurrying for the XP. But Marrone called timeout anyway. Thought it was a waste.

That defensive set (3 in front) was right in front of our seats ... and I was like, 'oh no', the 'prevent'. I knew something was going to happen. As it was, we got no pressure, Fields ran a perfect route and the (backup) QB delivered a perfect strike for a fingertip catch -- ridiculously lucky if you ask me. But they nailed it.

Regardless, this is what you get when you rush 3 guys.
Was I sitting next to you? Cuse side?

And not terrible coverage... it was just a very good pass right to the boundary. It was right in front of me in the corner... the ball was perfectly lofted over Dyshawn's head into the receivers hands. He could have covered closer, but it wasn't bad.

Agreed on the throw but I think the point that others are trying to make here is that it's a bad idea to have a #1 receiver covered by a LB. Period. Not saying that it should never ever happen, only that it's more likely than not that the receiver has quicker jets than the LB. As noted above, the NW QB immediately saw the perceived mismatch and went right there. That seems to confirm the point.

No, my wife and I are on the visitors side, at about the 20 yard line. It wasn't pretty.

And by the way, if you sit on the Cuse side, did Coulter fall down when lyn "pushed" him on that one play. From my seat, it didn't look like he even fell down. But I didn't look at the replay (too depressing).

It was the other qb, but he left his feet on his own. Lyn made sure he went ob And then the dude made sure to sell. Flag came from the head official 20 yards away, not the line ref that was right there.

Yeah, I saw the referee throw it from my right -- perfect timing since NW was about to go down and needed a cheap call to get more downs. Too bad the QB did an acting job and dropped to the turf ... we couldnt see that from our side.

Lyn put himself in a bad position. But I hated the call

No question ... there's blame for both the player (be smart, don't push the QB as he's going out of bounds), and the ref (don't flag players for pushing ball carriers that are still in-bounds and then flop to get a whistle).

The problem is the ref who threw the flag was too far away for a good view, I was closer to the play from my seat then he was. The official on the play had a much better view, and didn't throw a flag.

Did you sit near me?

Section 129 row b 101, like I said closer then the ref who threw the flag, the people in our area were a little upset.
