Here’s a list of NIL collectives by school. Many schools have multiple collectives. While most don’t list dollar figures, there’s a few in there to get a sense of the annual war chest these collectives are targeting.

The quote under the lone Syracuse collective is particularly interesting and revealing to the approach (I’ll let everyone else provide opinions).

That’s 8 months old and outdated.

I sure hope so because this quote really gives us hope. “We have absolutely nothing to do with recruiting,” Bristol said. “And obviously want to be crystal clear about that.” Let’s just hope all the donations this page gets selling hotdogs can bring in some top 20 players.

And then there's, "Yea Alabama was launched with the full backing of the Crimson Tide athletic department in early February 2023.".

"The long-term goal of the 315 Foundation is to develop an endowment fund that is professionally invested, producing annual income for SU Athletics' programs to utilize into perpetuity."

Meanwhile, Alabama allows you to donate directly to individual players or to a general fund and has a pay wall set up for the public to chat with players while the players receive payments from the money generated by the pay wall.

It seems to me that allowing money to go directly to the players now is a better model than using the money to set up an endowment fund to be professionally managed for the future.

I like both approaches.

I get what SU is trying to do, sort of create and NIL endowment.

But they should also add an arm similar to Alabama

Exactly.

Alabama and other schools have more than one co-op. One is run by players. I would like to see us have one like Alabama's main co-op too.

Please point out a collective that says its goal is to recruit players to a specific school. Since that is the only rule that seems to be in place, I don’t think you’ll find any dumb enough to publicly state that. Even Weitsman made it clear that the deals he was offering were not contingent on attending Syracuse.

Anyone can register for the Accelerate platform and INFLCR app. You will be vetted by SU Compliance and May be encouraged to go through one of the two collectives if your initiative fits and involves work with a charitable initiative. But if it’s purely commercial and defined you will get access to negotiate and transact directly with players. We did this with the SyraCRUZ Tailgate.!

Here’s the link:

As a note, Jesse Edwards is now registered on the platform. He wasn’t the last I checked a few weeks back. Pretty clear indication that things had been resolved and deals were being put in place for him. Apparently just not big enough or fast enough yet.

Direct link to the players is necessary, and the school should make it extremely easy to access so small donors can easily toss in some money. There's tons of people out there willing to donate towards keeping a guy like Jesse on mbb, but have no interest in donating their hard-earned money towards some random track runner or something.

That is all possible.

Exactly what the INFLCR portal allows you to do.

Also, the 315 Foundation enables you to specify which sport you want to support and, if you want to contribute to an individual, you can specify a preferred athlete in comments. Not sure that guarantees the specific athlete gets the funding since they have to agree to do something with a charitable organization, but every effort is made to do so.

No offense to the people running it, but it seems like they could make that website more appealing/modern. And the tax deductibility statement doesn't inspire a lot of confidence. Or maybe it's just me being grumpy about things. :)

That site is literally the definition of a modern, mobile-optimized site.

Sounds like the United Way promise.

They guarantee your funds go where you direct, then take an equal amount of money out of your charity's pocket so your money doesn't actually help the charity you want... Thanks, I'll never donate that way.

I appreciate you guys working on this, but why on earth does Syracuse always seem so far behind on things an unpaid Intern could put together in a few hours?

For years, our best graphics guy in recruiting was a high school kid who took it upon himself to stalk recruits with cool photoshopped images, and now nobody outside this board knows there is a collective.

It's very frustrating. And the Weissman thing on top of it makes it very hard to feel like the program has a chance to compete going forward. My optimism from the early success of Autry is gone, replaced by growing ennui similar to of the demise of JB's program.

I know it's true for the football roster, if you go the official website and roster each player has an icon underneath their name that goes to the Inflcr page.

Also true for basketball.

Good grief. Mike Bristol and Tony Desorbo are doing this because they are as big of fans as anyone on this board and they also own their own businesses. Been fans longer than Weitsman too.

My post wasn't meant as a criticism of the individuals working on this because they are fans... I'm critical of the University and athletic department being behind the times. I was hoping that some of that was because JB got old and crotchety, but it sounds like the University and athletic department are to blame, rather than just JB.

Like I said, I'm grumpy about things. I was looking at it on my laptop and it looked dated to me.

To blame for what?
