Locker Room

I mean that’s perfectly fine but anything with standard folding chairs as the centerpiece isn’t exactly going to stand out or be a competitive advantage these days facilities-wise. If I was the architect or design firm, I wouldn’t be puffing my chest.

Ehh...looks plenty fine. What chairs should they have? In remods you focus your budgets. Having captain chairs or recliners would be over the top. To me the players probably care more about the changing area, TVs, sound system, food and drink options in there, etc...

It's a locker room they use maybe 21 times a year.

It's not the players lounge at the Melo Center where they spend the other 344 days.

Yeah I was going to say the same. Aside from using it on game days, I assume they aren't in there much.

Not to mention those plush carpet squares. An improvement but not a competitive advantage.

Looks good to me. Glad to not see a buffet, video games, arcade games or other concerning distractions where they will spend pregame and halftime.
While I’d agree, the locker room is another “amenity” kids look for unnecessary add on’s to when visiting. While you and I look for functionality, they look for dramatic lights/big monitors/and a friggin barber for mid game shape ups.

I mean I hear you. If it gets to that point where we can't get a recruit without 100k in tech in the locker room and a barber shop - sure. That said with NLI they can hopefully afford "UberCuts" in the near future.

Agreed. Derrick Coleman and Scoop Jardine and everyone in between won lots of games while suffering on folding chairs in a tomb of a locker room. If it takes more than that now, that's too bad.

Sometimes things said on here are so old and outdated. Just because you don’t want or care for the big lounge chairs, the fancy oversized TVs etc doesn’t mean that’s what kids these days aren’t looking for

to stay competitive with kids these days we need to have top end facilities, even if they only spend a quarter of the time there.

while that locker room looks nice, I would love to compare it to other schools locker rooms…Duke, Kentucky, UNC etc

I do wonder what Indiana’s and Duke’s facilities look like.

as the legendary coaches leave, surely schools need to open the wallet for more frivolous amenities

So, do it. I'm sure there are pictures out there of their locker rooms. And, just to nitpick, it's probably closer to 5% of their time, not 25%. They probably spend less time overall in that locker room in a given year than the average person spends on their toilet.

To be fair, I have looked at them and ours looks like a high school compared to the other places such as Duke, Indiana and then Kentucky and UNC are literally just laughing at what we have. However, some of those are large public universities so they have slightly more money to pull from.

I think you guys are mistaken, they don’t care about “how much time I’m going to spend here” they care about…. “Can I post this on tiktok or Instagram to show off??”

Here is Indiana:

Here is Duke (although I'm not sure the year these were taken):
