LOL...RAY RICE intro

I didn't even pay attention to the "school" thing, but what I did notice (and maybe they did this for other people and I just wasn't paying attention) was that when they did a little graphic of Ray Rice later, they listed height, weight, and hometown while he was striking a cheesy pose and grinning. No college was listed on the graphic.

They did the same kind of graphic for someone else later in the broadcast, and they had height, weight, hometown...and college. It definitely struck me as a little weird that they left the college off of Ray Rice's graphic, and not anyone else's.

EDIT: Granted I was drinking and therefore could have missed something while being distracted by those pesky leprechauns. So demanding, the leprechauns. "Burn this, kill that"...I'll make 'em all pay.

5 or 6 seconds of nothing and then just a slight head tilt.

I thought Eli had only one look, the goofy Forrest Gump, mother had to sleep with the principal to get him in to regular school kind of look?

You must be new to the internet, then. Also- decade plus? You should re-check your math. I think most of the posters here are not deriving joy from this so much as wry amusement. Years of OOC schedules loaded with cupcakes has succeeded in generating interest in your program, but you really have no signature victories, great bowl wins, or outright championships. Your ascension to mediocrity has given your very new fan base a distorted view of your place in the CFB world. I've seen a lot of Rutgers posters genuinely confused and even outraged that the B1G fan bases don't respect them; well it's no mystery- you haven't done anything yet to earn it! In a nutshell, I believe this is why longtime fans of other schools have such a distaste for Rutgers. Your program hasn't actually accomplished anything most fans consider truly meaningful. Please consider this before you choose to come over here pounding your chest and trying to dole out a lesson in morality.

Fun fact for a bit of context: a road win for Cuse at Northwestern on Saturday would be a greater non-conference victory than any Rutgers has had since the beginning of the "aberration". Take a few minutes to chew on that. For your own sake, please do not bring up that 2006 Illinois squad that GRob handled.

OTTOMH, I've seen players give their high schools, elementary schools, specific teacher's classes, and their peewee teams in those intros - so it's not really a big deal. Unless he does actually have a beef with RU, but if he did, we'd know about that from other sources (and probably be mentioning it in every SU-RU pi&%$ng contest thread). So, it's just an opportunity missed for RU to get a nationwide shout-out instead of a real negative. Entertaining that they are getting bent out of shape about it though.

This bizarre Rutgers Obsession by some SU fans is absolutely mind-boggling. These intros have been done in different ways, by different players, FOR YEARS!
Will some of you PUHLEEZE get off the Rutgers jock...even for a minute?
They are not, never have been, and never will be our RIVALS...they have NOT EARNED THAT DISTINCTION...EVER!
IMHO, the Rutgers-Obsessed fans are an EMBARRASSMENT to the SU program.

I don't think it's a slight against their alma mater, just a shutout to their hometown.

does not say Rutgers University, he introduces himself not from Rutgers but New Rochelle High School.

Has this always been the case? Just curious how recruits would view this intro.

I love it. Someone on the Rutty board posted, " Guess everyone pretty much knows hes a Rutgers guy because of Pasqualoni getting fired at Syracuse. Everyone knows we got his sloppy seconds."

It is likely the last sentence is true about the shoutout, however, Rutgers is by no means well known.

Guilty as charged, KaiserU. I'm just so fricken sick & tired of these Rutgers-Obsessed SU fans.
Its like a virulent pestilence that came about in the mid-2000's and infected the weakest-minded of our fanbase.
Somehow they got it in their heads that Rutgers was our equal as a program...yes...just like that!
And despite years of trying to eradicate this foolishness, they continue unabated, w/ daily updates on the RU program, like if their HC farts in public, some mamalukes will eagerly report it...like we should really give a 'k!
Mea culpa for my being so passionate about this, it just really sticks in my craw how some of us can't wait to denigrate & diminish our own program.
Anyway, times like this call for Don Patron w/ a Corona chaser.

Why Rutgers? When something happens w/ Temple, or UM, or VT, or WVU, or UConn, or BC, or damn near everyone else, why is that met w/ silence...yet, because its Rutgers, you were more than ready to post it here on this board?
And before someone says "Well, its Ray Rice, there's a history...etc", what exactly does that have to do w/ it? We've lost prized recruits to other programs before, yet it hasn't infested the fanbase mindset like Rutgers has.
Its quite simple, IMHO- why give that half-assed program ANY attention whatsoever...why?
Are they annoying? Yes...they can join the club.
Have they earned our interest thru their accomplishments? No
Do they have a history? No
Are they our staunch rival like GTown, or UConn, or even PSU? No
We hit a rough stretch in our program and some fans obsess over RU stepping up and becoming... average, and then mindlessly GIVE them rival status...like our programs are now equal. What happened to the 100 yrs of tradition and success by us, and failure and ineptitude by them? That all gets wiped out in a blink...willingly?
Btw- I have a friend who's a RU alum (maybe that's why this pisses me off so much), and his favorite question to me & for which I have no answer, is..."Why do some SU fans constantly talk and rant about us"?
Bottomline, if they were so irrelevant, why even mention them? And now we're both in different conferences...and the obsession continues?

No need to be so defensive- yours was just the latest in a long line of "Rutgers centric" posts that appear on this board, & that's why you're being mentioned, that's all.
Frankly, I call BS on your "being as interested" if some other players had done the same thing because as its been pointed out ad-nauseum, what Rice did wasn't unusual or unique- its been done b4, regularly. I'll bet you even money that another intro will go the exact same way every week this season. Lets see how many of those you'll breathlessly post on this forum.
As to why "Garbage State" fans talk about us... well, that should be obvious: Its worked to their advantage to mention us as a rival.
Its a little like what Providence College bball fans are doing with UConn. They constantly try & start some w/ UConn fans just to get their attention. The smart UConn fan will ignore them, because they know that PC's program will never match theirs for history and tradition. Conversely, the moronic, knee-jerk UConn fan will mindlessly engage the PC fans, giving them equal status by virtue of their attention. That's just dumb, IMHO.
That, IMO, is what Rutgers-Obsessed SU fans haven't quite grasped yet...that RU hasn't earned that from us, no matter how many mid-level bowls and FCS victories they've mustered over these last 8 years.
