[QUOTE="Cheriehoop, post: 1604170, member: 127"] As you said I bet in the future the covenants of his contract will better control any sudden wanderlust or . Personally, I don't blame anyone for going for a better job. You have a very simplistic take on the subject. I don't think of myself as an "asshat" but of course that is debatable. ;) Funny how when Coach Mac left for New England, fans didn't have the same reaction. Could there be valid reasons that the reactions of much the same fanbase differed from Coach Mac to Coach Marrone? I truly think people were understanding why DM would leave for a chance at an NFL coaching job - I don't think fans are idiots- well not all of them . It was more what he said when he came here, how he left and how he treated people and fans while here and after he left. Doug Marrone didn't care what either the SU fans nor Bill's fans thought when he left - fair enough - but why should I feel like an asshat for not feeling warm about him either? If I lobbied hard for a job despite tough competition, publicly calling it my dream job and the goal I had worked my entire career towards while playing the loyalty card to obtain the job, I'd expect some flack for looking and leaving after the first tangible sign of success. Good for him but bad timing for us looking for a coach after the Pinstripe Bowl win. Ironically, Coach Babers found a different way to time it to help BG's search. I also would never disrespect those same employers who took that leap of faith in me providing the opportunity to leave for that better job either. Scorched earth policy usually does cause some irreparable damage. If people disagree with how he handled himself in leaving - is that really being an "asshat"? Fine, he gets a total pass from some people who excuse "the how for the why" - no need to demonize either view. Overall as an SU fan, I might have thought it was more personal if he hadn't done the same thing to the Bills'. Overall who cares anyways- he's old news. :D Sorry for the blah blah length of this.
