Lou Holtz enters hospice

Hey, there are coaches out there who killed kids, covered up murder by the players, and all kinds of awful stuff.

What did Lou Holtz do - pay kids like they do today?
Supporting Jesse Helms (US Senator)...he checked all the bad human boxes of racist, sexist, etc

For foottball it was paying players, improper tutoring, and off season workouts...pretty much the normal stuff.

Supporting Jesse Helms? Ok, that sucks.

Hard to believe a football coach could be racist anytime after the 1960s.

My sister works at the Hospice in Syracuse. I have no idea how she does it. Obviously she’s a much more empathetic and generally a better person than I am.

I almost think it would be harder be an empathetic person. I think of myself as pretty empathetic and that job would break me.

Whyis JJ guarding Harrelson or the other forward? Put Kingz on Haralson.

I went to a conference in Detroit; and Coach Holtz gave a speech for almost an hour. He told jokes, did magic tricks and gave life lesson. When it was over, I looked at my watch, and thought, that was the fastest hour in my life.

One of the jokes I remember. Coach Holtz told a story of recruiting a player. It was at Coach Holtz’s house. After he explained to the recruit all his school had to offer, he asked the recruit if he had any questions for him. The recruit asked why those two magazines on the coffee table. The two magazines were National Geographic and Playboy. He looked at the recruit and said,”At my age, they both show me places I am never going to see.”

What did he do to make you post what you did?

I knew the man and liked him. Totally different individual in private.
If you can't say anything good about someone who is dying, I recommend you don't say anything.
Just because someone is dying doesn't make them an angel.

My decade long dementia suffering mother-in-law entered hospice in the middle of 2024.

She exited hospice about 6 months later.

She’s been in her memory care facility since.

She’s still in her memory care facility.

Up into this I had no idea that people can actually leave hospice and continue to live. She’s trying to set a record for the person to suffer from dementia the longest. We’re going on 11 years now.
I do home health and had a patient that bounced in and out of hospice at least 3 times. I didn't know that was a thing either until that experience. It is pretty rare though.
