He was reinstated a couple days ago...What happened to Behanan?! I thought he was done. Box score says he has 7 pts.
A Pitt - Louisville game might not make it to the half without everyone on both teams fouling out.Funny how these games go... if we played cornell again the first half would look similar to this one. Just waiting for when the cards run into a more strictly officiated game for the first time.
Every team hand checks. It's what man-to-man teams do playing D to keep leverage. So every team will have to adjust, so will the refs making the calls to know what to call and what not to call. Louisville will adjust like anyone else. They have done so already in first few games. This perception that they will foul out all their guys is ridiculous and dumb. I took that comment as laced with sarcasm myself... with that said no matter how much teams try to adjust.. they are going to test the waters as well. Pitinos pressure d relies on the handcheck to stay attached as much as moving their feet. Smith actually moves his feet really well and does a good job with avoiding getting handsy. Pitt not so much. I think realistically we will see some foul out fests if physical games go to a couple ot's. The new rules are good for the game and help bring out the importance of defensive fundamentals.
Actually I was being serious. Tired of hearing this. You take advantage of the rules and play aggressive to win games. If the rules change, you change to keep winning. No different from any other team. Not as much as Cuse but I like UofL. JB is not as interested in stomping overmatched opponents as some coaches. If Pitino's guys slacked off and played like they were asleep he'd kill them. Calhoun was the same way. JB's a great coach but his teams have a tendency to play up and down to the level of the competition.
I guess I should start using emoticons. It's just that I don't particularly like them.Every team hand checks. It's what man-to-man teams do playing D to keep leverage. At least UofL and Cuse are in different leagues for one year. Hoping UofL destroys UK in their annual game late next month.
Didn't mean to be mean at all (sorry), and I suspected it was at least partly tongue and cheek. Guess I've just seen that type of comment (serious or not) too many times and just thought I'd offer my own thoughts FWIW. It's OK not to like them (I get that). I just have been around here long enough to have more respect and like for them than most. Now, UK? That's a much different story.I guess I should start using emoticons. Oops! Yeah, the Cards don't have a lot of players in NBA although there are some (Clark on LA last I saw, Garcia, others). I guess one could say that Pitino doesn't recruit one and doners like his counterpart 70 miles east of here (ugh!), so that may contribute to this fact. Pitino actually does try to develop and does care for his players.I meant delmars post being laced with sarcasm... I respect the cards and their program. I think pitino pushes the limits of what is legal defensively which is frustrating for the simple fact it isnt about getting the players to develop but imstead getting them to master his style on both ends and if they develop more all around then it is win-win. It works for him obviously and has for guys like dieng. Clark, williams, jennings etc have really struggled at the next level to stick and there really isnt a big name pro who played for rick left out there I can recall.

Good coaches figure out how to adapt. In '87 when the 3 point shot was introduced, the final four coaches were Knight, Tarkanian, Pitino, and Boeheim. No mistake there. Besides, I think this is one of the changes that will be long gone when conference play begins.Didn't mean to be mean at all (sorry), and I suspected it was at least partly tongue and cheek.
