Louisville cleared to leave AAC at season's end...

That has to be some kind of relief for them. They were showing the post-Louisville AAC "footprint" (you try connecting those dots) during the hoops games last night. UConn really did get stuck in oblivion. They'd be better off scrapping football altogether and just seeing if the Big East would let them back in. At least they could have some compelling, traditional, hoops matchups. After the Louisville game this season, they officially have nothing.

$11 million. That's a big number considering the big east is defunct as a FB conference. The AAC should thank UL for giving them a year of football and basketball.

Who is taking Rutgers and Louisville's place?

Along those lines, has Rutgers settled as well and if so, how much?

Tulane is taking Rutgers' place. I don't believe anyone can take Louisville's place.

East Carolina and Tulsa are also coming to the AAC next year.

I don't believe Rutgers has settled. I think they are heading into arbitration with the AAC in a Rhode Island court.

Thanks Maxwell...I couldn't remember what was going there as it seemed to happen so fast.

I wonder how much cash RU even has?

That's the thing...both Maryland and Rutgers have serious cash flow problems and will have to rob Peter to pay Paul.

Rutgirls has not settled yet. Also, part of Lvilles settlement is that if rutgirls settles for less than Lvilles $11m, then Lvilles gets reduced to the rutgirls amount.

Except Maryland has a law that says Peter can't be touched.

These schools being "cleared" to join their new conferences is nothing more than a formality. Any courtroom posturing is nothing more than the negotiation process.

At the end of the day, the ACC doesn't want Maryland in the ACC for 2014 any more than MD wants to be there. Its simply a matter on settling on the exit value.

As for Rutgers, the AAC doesn't have the muscle or desire to battle against the B10 on this one. Rutgers will be gone as well.

The bigger question may be, does the Big 10 still want both of those schools?

Of course they do. The basic facts haven't changed - UMD & Rutgers remain in high population areas with cable buyers & their football programs blow.

That makes a lot of sense right now considering that their football program has never looked worse. Cut your losses, go back to AA and focus your brand on basketball.

I would love to see an accurate accounting of how much each Big East Leftover Team received/will receive from the departures. I know they are screwed by not getting taken, and the reduced television monies and all. But they must have received a stupid big check.

I'm sure UCONN got plenty enough to build a new max security indoor practice facility.

$11M, that should be more than enough for the AAC to start a bowl game in Paducah, KY on Dec. 11 at 10am.

You have never been to Paducah have you? It is full of weirdo artsy fartsy types who give zero sh!ts about anything sports related.

Oh wait that is the point right?

Don't forget that every sport at Rutgers blows.
