In terms of prestige, the noon RSN slot is as bad as it gets. Really a slap in the face to UL and Syracuse.
I get putting the Clemson-UConn game on ACCN at noon instead of our game. Even if the only interesting thing to watch in that game is whether Clemson can get to triple figures on offense.
The Tigers have a lot of fans and Comcast still hasn't signed up for ACCN. They are going to try and put a big name on ACCN every week to continue to press Comcast to sign on the dotted line.
The three games they are holding are all really attractive. One will likely be an ABC game, one an ESPN or ESPN2 and one an ACCN night game.
- Miami at Florida State
- Notre Dame at Virginia
- NC State at Wake Forest
They picked the right games to feature. But why not have Duke vs VT at noon on RSN and UL-Syracuse on ACCN at 3:30 pm? Some applies to BC at GT. The UL-SU game has bowl implications and is going to be a lot more interesting and meaningful. We should have at least gotten the 3:30 RSN slot.
But as stated above, the noon start should help us more than a late afternoon or night game. The crowd might be somewhat sober. I guess minimizing the home field advantage is the most important thing for us right now.
