I don't think they'd ever really do it on a Friday; though Saturday is also a bad TV night and they do it then. They'd need to figure somehting out with the women's tournament though, since they play on Sunday.

Move the women to Saturday/Monday

I cut cable last year but care enough about sports and particularly college basketball that I spend the 25 a month for sling tv and access to all the ESPN channels (except classic) plus ESPN3. I got TNT TBS and Tru TV as well on it, plus many stations I never watch. But I may cut it off till September, if I decide I really don't need to watch the French Open, Wimbeldon and the handful of games the Mets will play on ESPN, and just get it around baseball playoff time, and maybe for the US Open too.

Casual fans of college basketball who don't have cable and don't really follow sports in general don't care if they can't watch ESPN all year round. If they want to see the final four and it's not available at home, they'll go to a bar or a friend's house to watch it.

The more I think about it, it might be a little more difficult to make Friday work? They started on Saturday at what, 6:15 or so? That's 3:15 on the west coast; it's 5:15 in central. Even 6:15 on a Friday is much much different than 6:15 on a Saturday, I'd have to think the ratings would be much worse in that situation.

ive thought for years that the nielson ratings system is flawed, especially when it comes to sports.

there are random Yankee games midweek in the summer when they get 50k.

ive read where the ratings tell us that another 150k are watching at home.

so 1 in 4 Yankee fans is AT the game??

I'll be honest, I went to bed early and caught the highlights the next morning. Had SU been in it, I obviously would've stayed up.

I checked the half time score and then fell a sleep on the couch.
Woke up with about 4 min left in the game and stayed up through OSM.

I went to the website and confirmed you need cable, version or direct tv. Not sure about dish tv. Seems to me they are leaving a lot of millennial $$ behind plus some from old fogies like me who watch everything online now. Also who will be the fans in the future if they can't watch the games now?

It's interesting though; I believe Sunday is generally the night with the largest TV audience. But I guess they figure Sat/Mon is better than either Sun/Tues or Fri/Sun.
