The Yankees are the number one draw in the game. Love them or hate them they are the NYYankees because they win. Sure they are in a huge market and have the $ but thats the drawEveryone needs the Yankees to be strong in order to get the satisfaction of playing and beating themThe arch villain must exist in order to push for the protagonist "hero" Think post cold war. We lost the Soviet Union and now its the middle eastern terrorist in play for fictional confrontations in novels and television. If you strip away the power of the "bad guys you take away the fun of beating those bad -guys.

Yet you support a luxury tax on the people who put the most into the economy. Baseball is just taxing success like Obama. Baseball is going to redistribute it to people who lack the capacity and drive to take advantage of the largess, just like Obama. The teams who receive the money without earning will lack incentive to put out a better product to make themselves better, just like the welfare class (Democratic base).
Pick a side Cali, for or against wealth re-distributuion. It works the same macro or micro.

Great post Capt. Tuttle, but at least with the Yankees we are not redistributing the taxpayer's money.

Completely wrong. The owners of the yanks and the sox are also part owner of something called major league baseball. No one is going to yankee stadium to see them play an inter squad practice. More teams able to win the world title will mean more people going to games. The world doesn't revolve around the yanks.

The only thing I dislike about the luxury tax is some of the small market owners put that money right in their pockets. There should be a salary floor. I'd even support some kind of EPL like structure, where there's a premier division and teams move up and down depending on performance every season.
