The top of the ACC is better, the bottom is probably better too, but the middle is pretty damn close. Just think it's up to Syracuse to give the ACC a winning record heads up vs. the AAC and they are currently a 3 point underdog.
Dude the middle of the ACC is better than the AAC and the bottom isn't even close. The MAC I won't even compare because it is silly. Comparing the 12 AAC teams with the 12 ACC teams using Sagarin:
Top of AAC
Navy 41st
Houston 44th
Memphis 51st
Temple 54th
Top of ACC
GA Tech 26th
UNC 29th
Duke 31st
Louisville 32nd
That is pretty comparable despite the advantage in the ranking. IMO those teams are pretty close.
Middle of AAC
ECU 63rd
Cincy 66th
Tulsa 88th
UConn 100th
Middle of ACC
Pitt 36th
NC State 37th
VA Tech 49th
Miami 50th
If you want to say Top half of AAC (6 teams) is comparable to the ACC that is fine. But the middle of the ACC is much better when you take in teams 7 & 8.
Bottom of AAC
USF 110th
UCF 113th
SMU 116th
Tulane 122nd
Bottom of ACC
BC 60th
SU 65th
UVA 82nd
Wake 84th
This isn't even close. There isn't much difference within the ACC 1 to 12. And there isn't much difference between the ACC and the AAC 1-6. Those teams could compete for the Coastal title. But AAC 7-12 is a huge difference.
