Major Applewhite moving up in the world

During Major's 1 year in Syracuse I got to have drinks with him a couple of time and know him a little bit as I was friends with a couple FB walkons. He hated Labatt Blue and was a true Texan thru and thru. He didn't really seem to enjoy any non-Texas culture during his time in CNY.

I don't think he would be the right hire for SMU. If I were SMU I would find a good Texas HS coach with pipelines to good talent like Baylor HC was before he got that job.

OC at Alabama was probably a better gig. His previous indiscretion could be a deal breaker for SMU.

Played golf with him while he was in CNY.

Great guy.

Obviously great athlete.

Rooting for him!

Spence, White, Browning, Applewhite, anyone else from Grob era......

Spence was a Marrone hire. I liked Browning a lot. He just didn't have much to work with.

I think a person who deserves serious consideration should be David Beaty. Currently WR coach at A&M as well as their Recruiting Coordinator. Highly, highly respected by Texas High School coaches. Was a Co-OC at Kansas under Mangino and was OC at Rice. Known as a fantastic recruiter and has had success developing receivers. Also won a Texas State Championship as a High School HC in Dallas.

I love their grilled southwestern chicken for 10.99, and the way they decorate the dining area with artifacts from the local sports scene.

My fault, sorry. Who came after Pariani? Was it White then Browning? I think I might have blocked out more of that era than I originally thought.

Interesting that both Spence and Browning are at Rutgers.

I think Browning is a very good OL coach and did good with not much to work with while here. The rest?I would agree with you.

He is a good OL coach, unfortunately we hired him to be our OC. Our offense that year was ranked 115th in the country. You guys don't want to put the blame on him, I'm ok with that, at the same time....Meh

You've got it. White went on to join Willingham at Washington before joining Urban Meyer in Florida where he's been for 5 years. He (and Muschamp) could be on the move again after this season unless the Gators magically kick it in gear.

Agreed.

Browning ran a solid offense.

He just had very little time and very little talent.
