A lot of reasons why we were able to pull this out, but Maliq over the last 30 seconds had that amazing breakaway steal, a rebound of the following Colgate miss and then ices it with two free throws. And as others have pointed out, in a press he has what seem like 5 foot arms poking everything out.

Gotta give credit where it is due, Bell had one heck of a game and was playing really hard defense especially at the end. There were many opportunities for this team to fold over the last five minutes but they showed a LOT of heart.

Since they’re skinny we really need Malik and Bell playing with this kind of confidence hopefully that comeback fired both up.

Maliq plays solid M2M D most of the time he's in there

That steal and breakaway was awesome.
I worried he was gonna get called for reach in fouls, he's really aggressive with trying to poke the ball out.
I thought the refs called a decent game, didn't over officiate which fueled our comeback with some of the steal.

Maliq is the guy all winning teams have. Doesn't do anything that stands out in the box score but in watching the game makes a ton of small change winning plays.

My concern is he is going to have to play the 5 a lot and will get overwhelmed by other bigs. Red has to figure out a way to get Mcleod or Hima or some size on the floor. Teams that play small usually have snipers to offset the size disadvantage, and I'm not sure we have that. Bell getting shots against better teams will be much tougher.

It would really help if Bennie turned into Jeremy Grant by Hawaii.

We really need Benny to play like a 4 not a 2.

Bell's defense at the end, the last few minutes, was outstanding.
We saw things during that pressure defense that we have never seen before. Great trapping in the back court and great individual MtM D in the front court. We outscored them 49-21 and Colgate had to work hard for a lot of their 21 points.

The effort is a lot different when you have to full court press.

Agreed . He was fighting through screens and giving strong effort. The whole team needs to play that way consistently

Refs seemed almost totally invisible last night, as they should be.

Is TV Teddy still out there doing his thing? If so, hopefully he's not out in Maui.

Wouldn't be surprised if some refs don't allow him to poke like that.
