Man Up Oregon

Eh, it works to an extent but I'm officially done with Oregon being taken seriously as a title contender for a while.

Bills offense with Jim Kelly = gimmick?

Look at Jones talk after the play, Oregon should get some payback for the hit on Mariota.

Every offense in the county that doesn't win the national title is a gimmick.
Guys, I think, like, Urban Meyer is a really good coach.

Like, a really good coach guys.
these offenses are so similar. Osu has better players and a better coach. Who even knows how good helfrich is

If Wisconsin had won the meatheads would've called osu the gimmick.

Its all screens and short passes, it might work against some pac 12 teams, but you aren't winning a national title with it.

I didn't call it a gimmick but Oregon doesn't seem like they can win the big one with this system they use or players they recruit, whatever the reason is.

I'd like to see the game marred by an on field brawl at this point.

Eh, they should have beaten Auburn a couple years ago.

tOSU is a buzz saw. I wouldn't read this one game as an indictment of their entire system and decade-plus resume.

Boeheim lost his first couple title games too.

Why? Getting there is more than half the battle. They've been there twice in 5 years.

We also needed a once in a generation talent to win it. Mariota isn't that.

I'm definitely not calling it a gimmick, they're good enough to always be in the conversation but they're bordering on "not taking them seriously anymore" territory.

Your perogative.

I'll take anyone who repeatedly gets to title games seriously.

Impossibly high standards for finesse gimmicks.

Bill cubit, now that is an offense!

Screw it, our innovation should be that we put 10 o-linemen on the field with one qb, and before every play have 5 report which ones are ineligible.

Cover that, ya jerks.

Maybe. But if they converted those 3rd downs sans the drops it could've been a huge ORE advantage in the 1Q with tons of momentum on their side.

I think their offense is fine to win it all. They had yardage just mistakes. It's their D and if they face a team who can eat clock and dominate up front.

I'm my going to dog either teams offense - both were taking advantage of where the defense was lining up.

But Oregon's offense has real trouble with the red zone. Stall. Looked familiar.

Definitely not very impressive when they can't front run with a lead.

It's never a good thing when the announcer mentions your offense isn't built to convert 3rd and longs.

If I'm drafting the top QB, I go with Winston after watching this. Neither looks like a top pro prospect but at least Winston can make NFL throws.

Not to deter the thread, but Winston absolutely looks like a top pro prospect, hence why many scouts believe he's the best pro prospect to come around since the Luck draft.

Oregon needs a top tier athletic QB to even move the ball in this offense.. when the last 2 they got hurt they couldnt move at all. Time will tell what OSU has. do they have 3 nfl qbs? maybe. I think Hunt could run the OSU offense and be decent. I dont think he could do anything in the oregon offense.

ohio state came up with big stops on defense - good for them. when people get it in their heads that some team is a gimmick every game they lose is a giant referendum AHA THEY CAN'T WIN

offenses were both the same and both very good. oregon chickened out a little on some debatable 4th downs after ohio state made big stops. oregon's freshman running back looked a little shaky at times, pressure got to him maybe?
