Mandel on the mathematics of bowl likelihood

I still don't understand why the ACC/Military would take Maryland? They don't even show up to their home games. Syracuse would travel well there, spend money on hotels/restaurants. Plus why would the ACC take care of Maryland before us?

I would send Maryland up to the bowl in Detroit. Might as well get used to their new part of the world.

I don't think SU fans are going to show up in impressive numbers for football in many places but the places were we will show: NYC metro, DC metro, NC research triangle area, Atlanta and Florida, are all places where the ACC has bowls.

This bodes well for us for the future.

What about TV ratings?

I presume that SU draws fairly well.

At least we did last year in the P-S Bowl.

The only reason they might is that the league would get the payout - and then not give it to MD.
shhhhhhh...don't give the league any ideas.what's the pay out on that bowl

dallas $1.1 million

beef eaters is $537,000

double the pay out between those two

Beef O'Brady looks out...as I predicted unless a backroom deal is made. Moving my odds from 90% to 80%.

Brett Dulaney, the executive director of the Beef O'Brady's Bowl, and Mark Neville, the director of communications for the Poinsettia Bowl, both said their conferences have contingency agreements with the Mid-American Conference that would place that conference's teams in their extra spots, crossing two possible destinations off the list.

I thought the ACC pooled payouts. And divided it equally.

Don't these people understand that I'd buy a ticket to the Heart of Dallas Bowl?

That should be more than enough reason to convince them that's where we need to be.

Palm is now saying verbatim what Mandel says above. But...ready for this...Palm says Syracuse would travel better than ALL three other teams listed above and thats why he has us in.

"Palm grouped Syracuse with Washington State, Oregon State and Pittsburgh as teams fighting for the final available bowl spots. He said he rates the Syracuse fanbase's willingness to travel as slightly above the other three, the primary reason for SU's inclusion in his projections." -Chris Carlson
We've thanked TexanMark profusely for his exceptional work in organizing SU fans for road games and have others to thank as well for their efforts. Normally we can speak to your success only in generalities. The kind of perception that SU has a viable fanbase is important and real. Thanks to all of you that made it easy to go to road games. It would seem that your work may have a very real impact on the season. Kudos to all.

Don't know if it was mentioned but Phil Steele has us bowling now (I guess he didn't on Sunday). Has us in Beef O' Brady vs East Carolina.

Oh my God. Would that mean the dude with the fat purple dinosaur slapping imaginary butt will be find us?

Cuz that dude was kinda funny.

We would get a ton of fans in San Diego. West coast full of SU now. One of the biggest alum bases. Tons of SU fans showed up for the USC game 2 years ago in LA. Dallas also has a decent alum base. And with football being so good in Texas, maybe more football fans than other venues. Also an easy city to get to with the huge American hub there. And Southwest hub at Love Field.

I was at the game @ U$C. I wouldn't say "tons" of SU fans showed. We did ok but was pretty sparse in the corner. Deon Goggins family made up for 5% of the turnout.
