Another writer picking Cuse to finish behind Wake. 0-8! in conference. 2-10 overall

--It’s going to be a rough year for hot-seat coaches if these standings prove true. Virginia’s Mike London (whose team stands little chance against UCLA, Notre Dame and Boise State), Miami’s Al Golden and Syracuse’s Scott Shafer are all likely toast.

i always have optimism but I was at the BC game to finish off last season and it was as blah a performance I can remember. The team, in the public's eye, is that of a bottom dweller. Not sure how anyone can see it differently. Mandel is absolutely right to place us there.

I'm really baffled as to why everyone is so adamant we'll lose to Wake. We kicked the crap out of them last year, on the road and completely banged up. Why would we suddenly fall behind them this year when we're healthy (knock on wood) and have them at home? I don't get it.

If there is one game circled this year by Shafer & Co, it is Week 2 against the Demon Dikes. Cannot wait to see the gif of Shafer "goldberging" Clawson.

We will NOT lose to those clowns.

All of these preseason pollsters can go chew on sharp tacks. 2-10 my ass.

so great, we'll be 3-9. I think it's not unreasonable for the pundits to have us this low. Our QB play last year was atrocious. Even with a healthy Hunt are we thinking this more than a 6 win team?

I'm hoping we surprise and Shafer turns out to be a monster coach. I have serious doubts on the talent and the coaching. I am really hoping i'm wrong on both.

Let's just throw in the towel on the season.

I mean I have been tough on SS but even I see us going 4-8 or 5-7 with an outside chance at 6-6/7-5.

2-10, 0-8 is a joke.

who said that? I'm just going to be realistic about things. If you want to be polyannish about this coach and what he's done so far, knock yourself out. Until I see a guy who can outscheme a better team into consistent wins or our talent can out-talent another team, i'm going to be cautiously optimistic on our chances.

wake was so incredibly bad last year

they were last in yards per play last year on offense

SMU was the 2nd worst. SMU was 21% better

FIU was the 3rd worst and was 28% better than Wake

if we play the same level of QB/oline as last year yeah we are a 3 win team. still will we lose a game like Maryland last year that we totally dominated? Clemson was right there for the taking last year as was ND. maybe all the things that went wrong go right and we are a 9 win team. 6 requires a really small improvement over our play last year if all other teams stay the same. thats the unknown.

who said I'm being pollyannish? Did I say how well they are going to do? I just find it amusing that how doom & gloom people get reading preseason picks. I prefer to actually see results on the field. Until then its all speculation.

Shows how much thought these preseason prognisticators actually put into their work. Syracuse was essentially connected to a respirator, on their Nth QB for the season and in the midst of an OC change that had to be made and NOW they will lose to the same Wake that lost to said banged up Syracuse. Gotta love people that refuse to look at any facts before running off at the mouth (keyboard). There used to be a time when writers actually had some knowledge about the subject they were writing on.

Also LVille was there for the taking if Lewis doesn't drop a gimme in the endzone that would've put us up early in the fourth qtr

Edit: it was in the third I believe but def. changed a lot in that game

just tells how irrelevant we are when the national writers are AGHAST that we are offended by their predictions. Kinda pathetic that they are essentially considering us Rutgers 1997ish.

How he came up with this prediction.

If you follow CFB as a profession honestly 3-9 is our absolute floor. Any non-SU fan should see we have an easier schedule than last year, 1 more home game, and a Senior healthy QB.

4-8 or 5-7 w/ a chance at 6-6/7-5

I said it before, I'll repeat it here:

SHOULD win - URI, Wake, Central Michigan, USF
Should LOSE - LSU, Clemson, Florida State
Will PROBABLY lose - Louisville
Toss up, leaning toward WIN - Virginia
Could go EITHER way - NC State, Pitt, BC

Not counting those last three toss ups, that's 5-4, and we'll probably win 1 or 2 of those toss ups. I honestly think 6-6 is a very realistic season, with a potential 7-5 campaign coming our way.

Just had this conversation with Bailey on Twitter. If we can lock down the SHOULDS and come home on the right side of the coin flip from C'ville, that means we just need to overcome the Pitt Voodoo or get back at BC at the Dome. Or beat State, who could be overrated.
